We introduce a new spectral sequence called the p-chain spectral sequence which converges to the (co-)homology of a contravariant C-space with coefficients in a covariant C-spectrum for a small category C. It is different from the corresponding Atiyah–Hirzebruch-type spectral sequence. It can be used in combination with the Isomorphism Conjectures of Baum and Connes and Farrell and Jones to compute algebraic K- and L-groups of group rings and topological K-groups of reduced group C*-algebras.  相似文献

Suppose is a commutative ring with identity of prime characteristic and is an arbitrary abelian -group. In the present paper, a basic subgroup and a lower basic subgroup of the -component and of the factor-group of the unit group in the modular group algebra are established, in the case when is weakly perfect. Moreover, a lower basic subgroup and a basic subgroup of the normed -component and of the quotient group are given when is perfect and is arbitrary whose is -divisible. These results extend and generalize a result due to Nachev (1996) published in Houston J. Math., when the ring is perfect and is -primary. Some other applications in this direction are also obtained for the direct factor problem and for a kind of an arbitrary basic subgroup.  相似文献

A ring R is called clean if every element of it is a sum of an idempotent and a unit. A ring R is neat if every proper homomorphic image of R is clean. When R is a field, then a complete characterization has been obtained for a commutative group ring RG to be neat, but not clean. And if R is not a field, then necessary conditions are obtained for a commutative group ring RG to be neat, but not clean. A counterexample is given to show that these necessary conditions are not sufficient.  相似文献

The p-rank of an algebraic curve X over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic p>0 is the dimension of the vector space H1(Xet,Fp). We study the representations of finite subgroups GAut(X) induced on H1(Xet,Fp)k, and obtain two main results.First, the sum of the nonprojective direct summands of the representation, i.e., its core, is determined explicitly by local data given by the fixed point structure of the group acting on the curve. As a corollary, we derive a congruence formula for the p-rank.Secondly, the multiplicities of the projective direct summands of quotient curves, i.e., their Borne invariants, are calculated in terms of the Borne invariants of the original curve and ramification data. In particular, this is a generalization of both Nakajima's equivariant Deuring–Shafarevich formula and a previous result of Borne in the case of free actions.  相似文献

Suppose F is a perfect field of char F = p ≠ 0 and G is an arbitrary abelian multiplicative group with a p-basic subgroup B and p-component G p . Let FG be the group algebra with normed group of all units V(FG) and its Sylow p-subgroup S(FG), and let I p (FG; B) be the nilradical of the relative augmentation ideal I(FG; B) of FG with respect to B. The main results that motivate this article are that 1 + I p (FG; B) is basic in S(FG), and B(1 + I p (FG; B)) is p-basic in V(FG) provided G is p-mixed. These achievements extend in some way a result of N. Nachev (1996) in Houston J. Math. when G is p-primary. Thus the problem of obtaining a (p-)basic subgroup in FG is completely resolved provided that the field F is perfect. Moreover, it is shown that G p (1 + I p (FG; B))/G p is basic in S(FG)/G p , and G(1 + I p (FG; B))/G is basic in V(FG)/G provided G is p-mixed. As consequences, S(FG) and S(FG)/G p are both starred or divisible groups. All of the listed assertions enlarge in a new aspect affirmations established by us in Czechoslovak Math. J. (2002), Math. Bohemica (2004) and Math. Slovaca (2005) as well.  相似文献

We determine the maximal number of conjugacy classes of maximal elementary abelian subgroups of rank 2 in a finite p-group G, for an odd prime p. Namely, it is p if G has rank at least 3 and it is p+1 if G has rank 2. More precisely, if G has rank 2, there are exactly 1,2,p+1, or possibly 3 classes for some 3-groups of maximal nilpotency class.  相似文献

A polynomial of degree ?2 with coefficients in the ring of p-adic numbers Zp is studied as a dynamical system on Zp. It is proved that the dynamical behavior of such a system is totally described by its minimal subsystems. For an arbitrary quadratic polynomial on Z2, we exhibit all its minimal subsystems.  相似文献

One major open problem in geometric topology is the Hilbert-Smith conjecture. A natural approach to this conjecture is to work on classifying spaces of p-adic integers. However, the well-known Milnor's construction of classifying space of p-adic integers is not locally connected, hence will not help to solve the conjecture, and the other known constructions are very complex. The goal of this paper is to give a new construction of classifying spaces for p-adic group actions.  相似文献

For every positive integer k > 1, let P(k) be the largest prime divisor of k. In this note, we show that if Fm = 22m + 1 is the mth Fermat number, then P(Fm) 2m+2(4m + 9) + 1 for all m 4. On the torus group, on the group of p-adic integers, and on the p-adic solenoid, we give a construction of an arbitrary weakly infinitely divisible probability measure using a random element with values in a product of (possibly infinitely many) subgroups of ℝ. As a special case of our results, we have a new construction of the Haar measure on the p-adic solenoid.  相似文献

The aim of this work is to apply the complex interpolation method to norms of n-tuples of operators in the p-Schatten classes of a Hilbert space H. The norms considered define Finsler metrics in a certain manifold of positive operators, and can be regarded as weighted p-norms, the weight being a positive invertible operator. We show that the bicategory whose 0‐cells are corings over rings with local units is bi‐equivalent to the bicategory of comonads in (right) unital modules whose underlying functors are right exact and preserve direct sums.
