The sizes of DNA fragments (alleles) on autoradiographs are measured by means of a computerised video scanner developed in this laboratory. This report investigates the advantages of using higher resolution equipment for this purpose. High resolution is simulated by using existing equipment and moving the video camera closer to the autoradiograph. Test autoradiographs, used to validate the original scanner, have been rescanned to determine the degree of improvement that could be obtained using expensive high resolution equipment.  相似文献

Processing food using irradiation provides significant advantages to food producers by destroying harmful pathogens and extending shelf life without any detectable physical or chemical changes. It is expected that through increased public education, food irradiation will emerge as a viable commercial industry. Food production in most countries involves state of the art manufacturing, packaging, labeling, and shipping techniques that provides maximum efficiency and profit. In the United States, food sales are extremely competitive and profit margins small. Most food producers have heavily invested in equipment and are hesitant to modify their equipment. Meat and poultry producers in particular utilize sophisticated production machinery that processes enormous volumes of product on a continuous basis. It is incumbent on the food irradiation equipment suppliers to develop equipment that can easily merge with existing processes without requiring major changes to either the final food product or the process utilized to produce that product. Before a food producer can include irradiation as part of their food production process, they must be certain the available equipment meets their needs. This paper will examine several major requirements of food processors that will most likely have to be provided by the supplier of the irradiation equipment.  相似文献

An equipment and procedure were developed to determine the CaO content of bauxite by X-ray fluorescence method using scintillation techniques and a tritium/Ti exciting source. The time needed for the whole sample preparation procedure and measurement is less than 10 min. The range of concentration where analysis is feasible by the equipment, is from 0.3% upwards.  相似文献

Wellhead equipment corrosion samples including internal surface of choke were analyzed by means of Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffractometry. 研制了基于电化学媒介体法的水体总毒性在线检测仪器, 通过对比水样和标样中微生物的呼吸活性差异, 实现对水体总毒性的在线监测.毒性检测的受试体微生物为原位培养微生物.电化学检测采用三电极系统, 其中铂微阵列电极、Ag/AgCl(3 mol/L KCl)电极和金丝电极分别作为工作电极、参比电极和对电极.对浓度为5.0、10.0和20.0 mg/L的模型毒物3,5-二氯苯酚(DCP)进行检测, 获得的微生物呼吸活性抑制率分别为24.4%、48.9%和59.2%.在连续在线监测过程中, 仪器能够对所有随机加入毒性物质(5.0 mg/L DCP)的水样输出毒性警报(以10%的呼吸抑制率为毒性报警临界值), 表明此仪器可以用于水体总毒性在线检测和预警.  相似文献

Flow patterns In various processing equipment were obtained based on 3D isothermal flow simulations. These flow patterns were further processed for mixing efficiency analysis. The dynamics of the mixing process was studied numerically by means of tracers and their trajectories In the processing equipment. Dispersive mixing efficiency was studied in terms of shear stresses and elongational flow components distributions. Distributive mixing efficiency was characterized using length stretch distributions and average values. Features of chaotic flow were also analyzed. The framework developed to analyze mixing efficiency opens the way for an unambiguous evaluation of equipment performance and for process optimization.  相似文献

In potentiometric stripping analysis, trace metals are first amalgamated into a mercury film electrode and then oxidized back into solution by an oxidant. The potential vs. time curve is recorded. Microcomputer-controlled equipment for automation of the potentiometric stripping analysis is described. The higher resolution of time compared to manual equipment increases the sensitivity of the method. A resident, 3-kB BASIC interpreter with routines for handling the hardware makes the programming simple and the instrumentation flexible for changes in the analytical scheme. Printer and keyboard are incorporated in the equipment which makes the whole analyser compact.  相似文献

It is only possible to obtain analytical results that are suitable for their intended purpose if the equipment used is capable of producing measurements of the required quality. To ensure that this requirement is met, analysts should define the performance criteria required from the instruments, ensure that only suitable instruments are selected for analytical measurements, and confirm that these instruments continue to meet these criteria for their entire operational life. This process should be conducted on a formal, documented basis, known as equipment qualification. In addition to describing the key elements of equipment qualification for all analytical instruments, this paper gives specific guidance on its application to conductivity systems that has never previously appeared in the literature. The benefits of performing equipment qualification are highlighted and guidance is given on the selection of control standards and why the equipment vendor performing stages of equipment qualification can be of benefit to the user. The relationship between equipment qualification and method validation is discussed, including how these activities play a major role in determining the quality control measures that should be applied to routine analysis.  相似文献

A furnace for determinations of gases in metals is described in detail. The essential part of the equipment is the stopper, which acts as a non-gettering baffle as well as a splash shield. The stopper is constructed of two conical halves of graphite; the movement follows by means of a rotatable shaft, passing through the tube and sealed by rubber o-rings. 对中学化学学生实验活动中产生的气体污染物进行测试,得到不同通风条件下化学实验室内部空气污染物的数据。结果表明,中学化学学生分组实验产生的主要气体污染物有苯、甲苯、甲醛、氨气等,实验过程中如不采取任何通风措施,实验室气体污染物的浓度短时间内会急剧升高,所以采取有效措施对实验室内部空气污染物进行消除是非常必要的。目前中学化学实验室配备的通风设备以桌面排风设备为主,相比于自然通风的环境,学生实验时开启桌面排风设备,能够有效降低实验产生的气体污染物浓度。  相似文献

The health authorities require that equipment used in the pharmaceutical industry is clean prior to use. The main raison is to prevent any contamination of the drug products. This article demonstrates that thermogravimetry (TG) can be used for the determination of the residual impurities during the cleaning validation of the equipment of pharmaceutical production plants. The accuracy and the recovery rate of this method are comparable with those of the classical analysis method (determination of the distillation residue using a rotary evaporator). The fully automation of the testing equipment even allows its utilization around the clock by plants operators, leading to a significant reduction of the time necessary for the cleaning validation and to an increase of the plant capacity.  相似文献

Two practical examples of educational equipment in the periphery of a large (or medium) computer are described. The management system for lessons with several video displays is illustrated by a flow chart, and the total load to the central processor is assessed. A demonstration equipment which combines a graphic display, a scan-converter and a projection TV, is shown to be valuable. Possibilities of improvement are indicated.  相似文献
