The anodic and cathodic polarization dependences for the oxygen electrode based on lanthanum-strontium manganite and the fuel Ni-cermet electrode are studied in the temperature range of 700–900°С in gas media that correspond to working conditions of a reversible fuel cell. The temporal behavior of these electrodes is studied in the course of periodic polarity changes of current with the density of 0.5 A/cm2. The electrode overvoltage is shown to be about 0.1 V in modes of power generation and water electrolysis at 900°С and the current density of 0.5 A/cm2. A single electrolyte supported tubular solid-oxide fuel cell was fabricated and tested in the fuel-cell and hydrogen-generation modes. It is found that at 900°С and overvoltage of 0.7 V, the cell generates the specific electric power of 0.4 W/cm2 when the 50% H2 + 50% H2O gas mixture is used as the fuel and air is used as the oxidizer. At the water electrolysis with the current density of 0.5 A/cm2, which under normal conditions corresponds to generation of about 0.2 and 0.1 L/h of hydrogen and oxygen, respectively, the consumed power is about 0.55 W/cm2. The efficiency of the conversion cycle electric power–hydrogen–electric power is 70–75%.  相似文献

Fiber supercapacitors are promising energy storage devices for potential application in wearable and miniaturized portable electronics, which currently suffer from difficulties in achieving high capacitance and energy density synchronously owing to the limited specific surface area of the electrode materials and material incompatibility between the two electrodes. Herein, a strategy is developed for the manufacture of coaxial asymmetric fiber supercapacitors by wrapping a core of PVA-KOH gel electrolyte-coated Ni(OH)2@NiCo2O4/CNT fibers with MoS2@Fe2O3/CNT paper. The as-prepared coaxial fiber asymmetric supercapacitors exhibit a specific capacitance of 373 mF cm−2 (at a current density of 2 mA cm−2) and energy density of 0.13 mW h cm−2 (at a power density of 3.2 mW cm−2), and also show good rate capability, long cycle life, and excellent flexibility. This work provides the possibility for the practical application of fiber supercapacitors in wearable and portable energy storage equipment.  相似文献

To avoid an enormous energy crisis in the not-too-distant future, it be emergent to establish high-performance energy storage devices such as supercapacitors. For this purpose, a three-dimensional (3D) heterostructure of Co3O4 and Co3S4 on nickel foam (NF) that is covered by reduced graphene oxide (rGO) has been prepared by following a facile multistep method. At first, rGO nanosheets are deposited on NF under mild hydrothermal conditions to increase the surface area. Subsequently, nanowalls of cobalt oxide are electro-deposited on rGO/Ni foam by applying cyclic-voltammetry (CV) under optimized conditions. Finally, for the synthesis of Co3O4@Co3S4 nanocomposite, the nanostructure of Co3S4 was fabricated from Co3O4 nanowalls on rGO/NF by following an ordinary hydrothermal process through the sulfurization for the electrochemical application. The samples are characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The obtained sample delivers a high capacitance of 13.34 F cm−2 (5651.24 F g−1) at a current density of 6 mA cm−2 compared to the Co3O4/rGO/NF electrode with a capacitance of 3.06 F cm−2 (1230.77 F g−1) at the same current density. The proposed electrode illustrates the superior electrochemical performance such as excellent specific energy density of 85.68 W h Kg−1, specific power density of 6048.03 W kg−1 and a superior cycling performance (86% after 1000 charge/discharge cycles at a scan rate of 5 mV s−1). Finally, by using Co3O4 @Co3S4/rGO/NF and the activated carbon-based electrode as positive and negative electrodes, respectively, an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) device was assembled. The fabricated ASC provides an appropriate specific capacitance of 79.15 mF cm−2 at the applied current density of 1 mA cm−2, and delivered an energy density of 0.143 Wh kg−1 at the power density of 5.42 W kg−1.  相似文献

Electrocatalytic effect of the untreated and TiO2+polyacrylonitrile (PAN) modified discarded battery coal (DBC) and pencil graphite electrodes (PGE) were evaluated in fuel cell (FC) applications. TiO2+PAN solution is coated on PGE and DBC electrodes by electrospinning. According to the FESEM and EDS characterizations, TiO2 and PAN nanofibers are found to be approximately 40 and 240 nm in size. TiO2+PAN/PGE showed the best FC performances with 2.00 A cm–2 current density and 5.05 W cm–2 power density values, whereas TiO2+PAN/DBC showed 0.68 A cm–2 current density and 0.62 W cm–2 power density values. Electrochemical characterizations of PGE and TiO2+PAN/PGE electrodes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Finally, long-term FC measurement results of developed electrodes exhibited very reasonable recovery values. Along with the comparison of the electrode performances, the recovery of DBCs as electrodes for renewable energy production has been achieved.  相似文献

We report a prototype air‐breathing carbon cloth‐based electrode that was fabricated starting from a commercially available screen‐printed electrode equipped with a transparent ITO working electrode (DropSens, ref. ITO10). The fabrication of the air‐breathing electrodes is straightforward, shows satisfactory reproducibility and a good electrochemical response as evaluated by means of [Fe(CN)6]3?/4? voltammetry. The gas‐diffusion electrodes were successfully modified with the O2 reducing enzyme bilirubin oxidase from Myrothecium verrucaria in a direct electron transfer regime. The enzyme modified electrodes showed a remarkable high current density for O2 reduction in passive air‐breathing mode of up to 5 mA cm?2. Moreover, the enzyme modified electrodes were applied as O2 reducing biocathodes in a glucose/air enzymatic biofuel cell in combination with a high current density glucose oxidase/redox polymer bioanode. The biofuel cell provides a high maximum power density of (0.34±0.02) mW cm?2 at 0.25 V. The straightforward design, low cost and the high reproducibility of these electrodes are considered as basis for standardized measurements under gas‐breathing conditions and for high throughput screening of gas converting (bio‐)catalysts.  相似文献

Vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) based electrodes for energy storage devices have captured sizeable attention in the past decade owing to their attractive physiochemical features. In the present work, flaky structured V2O5 was prepared using a single step hydrothermal route. The results from analytical investigations hold up well with the formation scheme proposed. The flaky morphology of V2O5 facilitates additional pathways for electron transport and effective ion access. When employed as a supercapacitor electrode in a neutral electrolyte, this flaky V2O5 electrode demonstrates a specific capacitance of 472 F g?1. Besides, it retains maximum capacitance at higher current density confirming its good rate performance. An asymmetric type supercapacitor using flaky V2O5 as positive electrode and activated carbon as negative electrode exhibits specific capacitance of 69 F g?1. This device shows energy density of 10 W h kg?1 within the operational window of 1 V.

It is possible to achieve high energy density and power density simultaneously for asymmetric supercapacitors by using pseudocapacitive materials with abundant ion intercalation/de-intercalation sites on the surface. Herein, a positive electrode based on feather-like MnO2 anchored on the activated carbon cloth is prepared, in which oxygen-enriched MnO2 nanorods with a radial sheet-like structure (OMO@AC) further form via electrochemical oxidation. Because of the large contact area with electrolyte and abundant oxidation functional groups on its surface, the OMO@AC displays excellent capacitance of 3,160 mF/cm2 at 1 mA/cm2. For the nitrogen-doped active carbon negative electrode, the capacitance is up to 1,875 mF/cm2 at 4 mA/cm2 due to the increase in disorder and defect on the carbon surface by N-doping. Furthermore, we verify the good electrochemical activity on the OMO@AC electrode surface by first-principles calculations and confirm the good matching degree between the positive and negative electrodes by CV testes. The aqueous oxygen-enriched MnO2// nitrogen-doped active carbon asymmetric supercapacitor exhibits an ultrahigh energy density of 8.723 mWh/cm3 at a power density of 14.248 mW/cm3 and display excellent cycle stability maintaining 95.5% after 10,000 cycles. The facile synthesis method and excellent performance provide a feasible way for the preparation of high-performance electrode materials for energy storage devices.  相似文献

The binder‐free composite films of reduced graphene oxide (rGO ) and activated carbon derived from cotton (aCFC ) have been fabricated and used as electrodes for electrochemical capacitors (ECs ) to avoid the decrease of capacitive performance in traditional process caused by the additional binder. The optimal aCFC is prepared at 850 °C when the mass ratio of carbon and potassium hydroxide is 1 to 4. The optimal composite film prepared from the mass ratio of aCFC /GO =2/1 exhibits porous structure, and has a specific surface area of 849.6 m2•g−1 and a total pore volume of 0.61 mL •g−1. Based on the two‐electrode system testing in 6.0 mol/L KOH electrolyte, the optimal composite has specific capacitance of about 202 F•g−1, 374 mF •cm−2 and 116 F•cm−3 in terms of mass, area and volume, and shows excellent rate capability and good cyclic stability (91.7% retention of the initial capacitance after 5000 cycles). Furthermore, the assembled solid‐state ECs by using KOH /polyvinyl alcohol as electrolyte show good mechanical stability and capacitive performances after repeated bending cycles. It is proved that this method is effective to fabricate binder‐free electrodes for ECs and will open up a novel route for the reuse of waste cotton.  相似文献

A mild and simple synthesis process for large-scale vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) energy storage systems is desirable. A graphite felt/MnO2 (GF-MNO) composite electrode with excellent electrocatalytic activity towards VO2+/VO2+ redox couples in a VRFB was synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal process. The resulting GF-MNO electrodes possess improved electrochemical kinetic reversibility of the vanadium redox reactions compared to pristine GF electrodes, and the corresponding energy efficiency and discharge capacity at 150 mA cm?2 are increased by 12.5% and 40%, respectively. The discharge capacity is maintained at 4.8 A h L?1 at the ultrahigh current density of 250 mA cm?2. Above all, 80% of the energy efficiency of the GFMNO composite electrodes is retained after 120 charge-discharge cycles at 150 mA cm?2. Furthermore, these electrodes demonstrated that more evenly distributed catalytic active sites were obtained from the MnO2 particles under acidic conditions. The proposed synthetic route is facile, and the raw materials are low cost and environmentally friendly. Therefore, these novel GFMNO electrodes hold great promise in large-scale vanadium redox flow battery energy storage systems.  相似文献

To endow all-solid-state asymmetric supercapacitors with high energy density, cycling stability, and flexibility, we design a binder-free supercapacitor electrode by in situ growth of well-distributed broccoli-like Ni0.75Mn0.25O/C solid solution arrays on a flexible and three-dimensional Ni current collector (3D-Ni). The electrode consists of a bottom layer of compressed but still porous Ni foam with excellent flexibility and high electrical conductivity, an intermediate layer of interconnected Ni nanoparticles providing a large specific surface area for loading of active substances, and a top layer of vertically aligned mesoporous nanosheets of a Ni0.75Mn0.25O/C solid solution. The resultant 3D-Ni/Ni0.75Mn0.25O/C cathode exhibits a specific capacitance of 1657.6 mF cm−2 at 1 mA cm−2 and shows no degradation of the capacitance after 10 000 cycles at 3 mA cm−2. The assembled 3D-Ni/Ni0.75Mn0.25O/C//activated carbon asymmetric supercapacitor has a high specific capacitance of 797.7 mF cm−2 at 2 mA cm−2 and an excellent cycling stability with 85.3 % of capacitance retention after 10 000 cycles at a current density of 3 mA cm−2. The energy density and power density of the asymmetric supercapacitor are up to 6.6 mW h cm−3 and 40.8 mW cm−3, respectively, indicating a fairly promising future of the flexible 3D-Ni/Ni0.75Mn0.25O/C electrode for efficient energy storage applications.  相似文献

Aqueous supercapacitors based on neutral solutions have the advantages of high-ionic conductivity, being environmentally friendly, safe, and low cost. However, the operating potential window for most aqueous electrolytes is far lower than that of organic electrolytes that are commonly used in commercial supercapacitors. In this work, we report on the fabrication of a wide potential window, high-energy aqueous asymmetric supercapacitor, without sacrificing power, by using a nanostructured LiMn2O4/reduced graphene oxide (LMO–rGO) nanocomposite. We synthesized the uniformly distributed LMO in the LMO–rGO nanocomposite using a co-precipitation route followed by a low-temperature hydrothermal treatment. In a three-electrode cell setup, the specific capacitance of the LMO–rGO nanocomposite electrode at 1 A/g (1.2 mA/cm2) is 268.75 F/g (258 mF/cm2), which shows a dramatic improvement over the sum of the specific capacitances of pristine LMO (162.5 F/g) and pure rGO (29.94 F/g) electrodes in their relative ratios, when used alone. This finding suggests a synergistic coupling of LMO and rGO in the nanocomposite. We also assembled the LMO–rGO nanocomposite, as the positive electrode, with activated carbon, as the negative electrode, into an asymmetric cell configuration. The device shows an ultra-wide potential window of 2.0 V in a neutral aqueous Li2SO4 electrolyte, with a maximum energy density of 29.6 Wh/kg (which approaches the commercial lead-acid batteries), power density of up to 7408 W/kg, and an excellent cycle life (5% loss after 6000 cycles). These findings confirm that an LMO–rGO nanocomposite is a promising material to meet the demands of real world energy storage.  相似文献

Carbon-based symmetric supercapacitors (SCs) are known for their high power density and long cyclability, making them an ideal candidate for power sources in new-generation electronic devices. To boost their electrochemical performances, deriving activated carbon doped with heteroatoms such as N, O, and S are highly desirable for increasing the specific capacitance. In this regard, activated carbon (AC) self-doped with heteroatoms is directly derived from bio-waste (lima-bean shell) using different KOH activation processes. The heteroatom-enriched AC synthesized using a pretreated carbon-to-KOH ratio of 1:2 (ONS@AC-2) shows excellent surface morphology with a large surface area of 1508 m2 g−1. As an SC electrode material, the presence of heteroatoms (N and S) reduces the interfacial charge-transfer resistance and increases the ion-accessible surface area, which inherently provides additional pseudocapacitance. The ONS@AC-2 electrode attains a maximum specific capacitance (Csp) of 342 F g−1 at a specific current of 1 Ag−1 in 1 m NaClO4 electrolyte at the wide potential window of 1.8 V. Moreover, as symmetric SCs the ONS@AC-2 electrode delivers a maximum specific capacitance (Csc) of 191 F g−1 with a maximum specific energy of 21.48 Wh kg−1 and high specific power of 14 000 W kg−1 and excellent retention of its initial capacitance (98 %) even after 10000 charge/discharge cycles. In addition, a flexible supercapacitor fabricated utilizing ONS@AC-2 electrodes and a LiCl/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-based polymer electrolyte shows a maximum Csc of 119 F g−1 with considerable specific energy and power.  相似文献

Reversible protonic ceramic cells (RPCCs) show great potential as new-generation energy conversion and storage devices. However, the mature development of RPCCs is seriously hindered by the inactivity and poor stability of air electrodes exposed to concentrated vapor under operating conditions. Herein, we report a high-entropy air electrode with the composition BaCo0.2Fe0.2Zr0.2Sn0.2Pr0.2O3-δ (BCFZSP), which shows integrated electronic, protonic and oxygenic conduction in a single perovskite phase and excellent structural stability in concentrated steam. Such triple conduction can spread the electrochemically active sites of the air electrode to the overall electrode surface, thus optimizing the kinetics of the oxygen reduction and evolution reactions (0.448 Ω cm2 of polarization resistance at 550 °C). As-prepared RPCCs with a BCFZSP air electrode at 600 °C achieved a peak power density of 0.68 W/cm2 in fuel-cell mode and a current density of 0.92 A/cm2 under a 1.3 V applied voltage in electrolysis mode. More importantly, the RPCCs demonstrate an encouragingly high stability during 120 h of reversible switching between the fuel-cell and electrolysis modes. Given their excellent performance, high-entropy perovskites can be promising electrode materials for RPCCs.  相似文献

The work contains the results of studies of a promising composite material of Sr2Fe1.5Mo0.5O6 + Ce0.8Sm0.2O1.9 for electrodes of symmetrical solid oxide fuel cells. It is shown that conductivity of the composite at 800°C is about 10 and 15 S/cm, for air and humid hydrogen, respectively, and polarization resistance of the electrodes in contact with the electrolyte based on doped lanthanum gallate under the same conditions is about 0.26 and 0.12 Ohm cm2. Tests of a symmetrical fuel cell with a planar design and the supporting gallate electrolyte with the thickness of 300 μm show that the cell can develop the power of about 0.5 W/cm2 at 800°C when air is supplied to the cathode and humid hydrogen is supplied to the anode. Analysis of polarization losses shows that the polarization of the oxygen electrode considerably exceeds the polarization of the anode.  相似文献

An asymmetric supercapacitor based on manganese dioxide/Au/nickel foam (MANF) electrode as positive electrode and graphene or commercial activated carbons (AC) as negative electrode was fabricated. The effect of different negative electrode materials and mass ratios of negative/positive electrodes on the electrochemical properties of the asymmetric supercapacitor was carefully investigated. The results suggest that the mass ratio of negative/positive electrode has a significant impact on the specific capacitance of the asymmetric supercapacitor. Especially, it is found that the optimal mass ratio of the negative/positive electrode is slightly lower than that calculated according to charge balance. On the other hand, the asymmetric supercapacitor with commercialized AC as negative electrode possesses higher specific capacitance and better rate capability than that of the asymmetric supercapacitor with graphene as negative electrode. The negative material has slight impact on the cycle stability of the asymmetric supercapacitor. In addition, the optimized asymmetric supercapacitor with MANF composite as positive electrode and AC as negative electrode can obtain an energy density as high as 65.9 Wh?kg?1 at a power density of 180 W?kg?1 and a cell voltage of 1.8 V in the neutral Na2SO4 aqueous solution.  相似文献

Three types of conducting polymers, polyaniline (PANI), poly(N-methylaniline) (PNMA), poly(N-ethylaniline) (PNEA) were electrochemically deposited on pencil graphite electrode (PGE) surfaces characterized as electrode active materials for supercapacitor applications. The obtained films were electrochemically characterized using different electrochemical methods. Redox parameters, electro-active characteristics, and electrostability of the polymer films were investigated via cyclic voltammetry (CV). Doping types of the polymer films were determined by the Mott-Schottky method. Electrochemical capacitance properties of the polymer film coating PGE (PGE/PANI, PGE/PNMA, and PGE/PNEA) were investigated by the CV and potentiostatic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods in a 0.1 M H2SO4 aqueous solution. Thus, capacitance values of the electrodes were calculated. Results show that PGE/PANI, PGE/PNMA, and PGE/PNEA exhibit maximum specific capacitances of 131.78 F g?1 (≈ 436.50 mF cm?2), 38.00 F g?1 (≈ 130.70 mF cm?2), and 16.50 F g?1 (≈ 57.83 mF cm?2), respectively. Moreover, charge-discharge capacities of the electrodes are reported and the specific power (SP) and specific energy (SE) values of the electrodes as supercapacitor materials were calculated using repeating chronopotentiometry.  相似文献
