We present an all-optical chaotic multi-quantum-well (MQW) laser repeater system to be used in long-haul chaotic communications. Chaotic synchronization is achieved among transmitter, repeater, and receiver. Chaotic repeater communications with a sinusoidal signal of 0.2-GHz modulation frequency and a digital signal of 0.4-Gb/s bit rate are numerically simulated, respectively. Calculation results illustrate that the signals are well decoded by the chaotic repeaters. Its bandwidth and the characteristics at much high bit rate are also analyzed. Simulation shows that the repeater can improve decoding quality, especially in higher bit rate chaotic communications. 相似文献

The preferences of a large number of na?ve listeners were elicited in response to a selection of multichannel audio items that had been degraded in quality by using band-limiting and down-mixing algorithms. Relationships were sought between these preference ratings and the quality judgements of experienced listeners in an attempt to determine whether one could be predicted from the other. Results suggest that a simple regression model can be used to do this with adequate results, but that a better prediction can be successfully based on experienced listener ratings of timbral and spatial fidelity. There is a difference between na?ve and experienced listeners in the weightings of the fidelities and their relationship to overall quality. 相似文献

Aim
The aim of this study was to understand the neuropharmacological characteristics of levo-tetrahydropalmatine (l-THP), a recently found potential treatment for drug addiction, and discover its neural correlates and sites of action.Methods
High-field pharmacological magnetic resonance imaging (phMRI) was used to detect activation induced by acute l-THP administration in the naïve rat brain at dose levels of 5, 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg.Results
Interestingly, the pharmacological profile of l-THP selectively binds to the receptors of the dopaminergic, serotonergic and noradrenergic systems. Using the phMRI method, it was demonstrated that l-THP selectively activated the key brain regions of the dopaminergic, serotonergic and noradrenergic systems in a dose-dependent manner.Conclusion
Numerous studies suggest a critical role of monoamines in the behavioral, pharmacological and addictive properties of psychostimulants. It is suggested that l-THP holds great potential to be a therapeutic medication for drug addiction. 相似文献4.
Dynamics of a semiconductor laser subject to moderate optical feedback operating in the low-frequency fluctuation regime is numerically investigated.Multimode Lang-Kobayashi(LK)equations show that the low-frequency intensity dropout including the total intensity and sub-modes intensity is accompanied by sudden dropout simultaneously,which is in good agreement with experimental observation.The power fluctuation is quite annoying in practical applications,therefore it becomes important to study the mech- anism of power fluctuation.It is also shown that many factors,such as spontaneous emission noise and feedback parameter,may influence power fluctuation larger than previously expected. 相似文献

Spectral study of a 1.55 μm multimode FP semiconductor laser using the transmission-line laser model

Transmission-line laser modelling is a time-domain technique suitable for simulating large-signal dynamics and complex phenomena in semiconductor lasers. We show that the transmission-line laser model (TLLM) is capable of predicting optical spectra in excellent agreement with the measured spectra of a commercially available 1.55 m Fabry-Perot (FP) laser, providing that scattering centres are introduced to simulate the effect of discrete scattering in or near the active region. The same model is also able to accurately predict the light-current curve, the pulse-modulation response and the relative-intensity-noise spectra of the laser. Thus, the TLLM can be applied to design and optimize short-haul optical communication systems using these commercial FP lasers. 相似文献

We demonstrate an optically pumped semiconductor disk laser based on the (AlGaIn)(AsSb) material system, which operates at an emission wavelength of 2.8 μm. Up to 120 mW of output power were obtained in cw operation and more than 500 mW in pulsed mode. The performance of the present laser is discussed in comparison to shorter-wavelength semiconductor disk lasers based on the same materials system. 相似文献

Laser rangefinder performance (i.e., maximum range) is strongly affected by environment due to visibility-dependent laser attenuation in the atmosphere and target reflectivity variations induced by surface condition changes (dry vs. wet). Both factors have their unique spectral features which means that rangefinders operating at different wavelengths are affected by specific environmental changes in a different way. Current state of the art TOF (time of flight) semiconductor laser rangefinders are based mainly on two wavelengths: 905 nm and 1550 nm, which results from atmospheric transmission windows and availability of high power pulsed sources. The paper discusses the scope of maximum range degradation of hypothetical 0.9 μm and 1.5 μm rangefinders due to selected water-related environmental effects. Atmospheric extinction spectra were adapted from Standard Atmosphere Model and reflectance fingerprints of various materials have been measured. It is not the aim of the paper to determine in general which wavelength is superior for laser range finding, since a number of criteria could be considered, but to verify their susceptibility to adverse environmental conditions. 相似文献

We consider networks of chaotic maps with different network topologies. In each case, they are coupled in such a way as to generate synchronized chaotic solutions. By using the methods of control of chaos we are controlling a single map into a predetermined trajectory. We analyze the reaction of the network to such a control. Specifically we show that a line of one-dimensional logistic maps that are unidirectionally coupled can be controlled from the first oscillator whereas a ring of diffusively coupled maps cannot be controlled for more than 5 maps. We show that rings with more elements can be controlled if every third map is controlled. The dependence of unidirectionally coupled maps on noise is studied. The noise level leads to a finite synchronization lengths for which maps can be controlled by a single location. A two-dimensional lattice is also studied. 相似文献

The theoretical construction of the fundamental × NOR gate using two injection semiconductor laser diodes due to mutual coupling is presented. Two laser diodes that are commonly driven by a monochromatic light beam result in chaos; however, chaotic synchronization between the two lasers may be achieved by coupling them. The all-optical logic gate is finally implemented by synchronizing or un-synchronizing appropriately the two chaotic states under a phase modulator (PM) control. The paper describes practical application of pulsed microchip laser generating at 1535-nm wavelength to a laser rangefinder. The complete prototype of a laser rangefinder was built and investigated in real environmental conditions. The measured performance of the device is discussed. To build the prototype of a laser rangefinder at a reasonable price and shape a number of basic considerations had to be done. Miniature rangefinding modules based on pulsed semiconductor laser technology are becoming more and more popular components of a variety of modern optoelectronics devices where precise, fast and eye-safe range estimation is needed. Current trends associated with minimization of both physical dimensions and cost of such modules lead to the design approach relying on exact meeting the requirements of a given application, concerning the spatial resolution and especially the maximum range. Optical components of a rangefinder cover a substantial part of its cost and determine its overall dimensions, but primarily — the indigenous parameters of the transmitter and receiver trains are crucial for the maximum measurable range. The quantitative analysis of transmitter optics aberrational characteristics impact on signal-to-noise ratio range dependence and thus the maximum range of a laser rangefinder is presented in the paper. Modern optical fabrication technology offers a huge range of solutions, changing in imaging/projecting characteristics which implies the price level as well. Rangefinder optics has a very specific task which sometimes makes it unreasonable to fight for the diffraction limited performance. The article provides the approach how to determine the acceptable level of optical aberrations which still does not degrade the measurable range significantly. 相似文献

In order to determine the appropriate treatment interval, 267 patients who underwent 3 sessions of treatment with Q-switched alexandrite laser were divided into 4 groups according to treatment interval, and their clinical responses were compared. Among them, 187 were asked about the process of pigment fading. Moreover, light and transmission electron microscopy were performed. It was noted that the clinical response of the 5 - 6 month interval group was significantly better than that of the 3 - 4 month group, but showed no significant difference from that of the 7 - 8 or ≥ 9 month group. 80.21% of investigated patients stated that marked pigment fading could no longer be observed 7 months after irradiation. 4 months after irradiation, the degenerated melanosomes and cell debris were still scattered among collagen fibers, scavenged gradually by macrophage. In conclusion, an appropriate treatment interval is 5 - 6 months. 相似文献

We demonstrate laser induced semiconductor–metal transition through an abrupt change in diamagnetic susceptibility of a donor at critical concentration in a GaAs/AlxGa1−xAs Quantum Well for finite barrier model in the effective mass approximation using variational principle. We have considered Anderson‘s localization due to the random distribution of impurities in our calculation. The nonparabolicity of the conduction band is also considered. A new method based on Hilbert–Huang transform is proposed to analyze the laser Doppler signal with a large acceleration. The Doppler signal is decomposed into several Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs) via empirical mode decomposition (EMD). And the Hilbert transform is used to compute the instantaneous frequency. The vehicle velocity parameter is estimated by taking linear fitting on the instantaneous frequency of the relevant IMF. The simulation results show that the HHT-based method is quite useful for the LDV that offers velocity parameter to the vehicle self-contained navigation system when the vehicle moves at a large acceleration. 相似文献
