In this figure , a vinylene-linked covalent organic framework (V-COF-1) was integrated with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) to contrive a modified electrode (V-COF-1/MWCNTs/SPCE) for electrochemical sensing applications. The sensor exhibited the simultaneous detection of tryptophan (Trp), uric acid (UA), and 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) in biological samples. More details about this figure will be discussed by Dr. Hui-Ling Lee and her coworkers on page 1796–1806 in this issue.

In this figure , two highly flexible and purely organic ligand undergo mutual induce-fit to form hydrogenbonded molecular capsule effectively, as sole product. In the absence of mutual induce-fit, apart from hydrogenbonded capsule several others uncharacterized assembly observed, depending upon the concentration of ligand used. More details about this figure will be discussed by Dr. Dr. Ashutosh S. Singh and his coworkers on page 2016–2021 in this issue.

Professor Sheng-Hsien Lin passed away on November 15, 2021 at home in Houston, Texas, under the warm care of his family (he was 84 years old). He was a pioneering theoretical chemist who applied quantum theory to understand many of the central problems in photochemistry, photophysics, and nonlinear spectroscopy at the molecular level. With the contributions from those who have worked and learnt from Prof. Lin, we are honored to present this special issue of The Journal of Chinese Chemical Society to commemorate Prof. Lin's scientific contributions and his efforts to develop the theoretical chemistry community in Taiwan. The 8 reviews and 45 original research articles with authors from 8 different countries spanning a breadth of research topics speak loudly about the impact Prof. Lin made during his luminous academic career. It is our hope that we all will remember Prof. Lin as an outstanding scholar with a strong mind to focus to the exclusion of all else until a scientific problem is solved and an educator with a warmful smile.

In this figure , a novel pH detection strip was evaluated for its effectiveness in monitoring pH changes during potentiometric titrations. The study compared its performance with that of a glass electrode and found no significant differences in the determinations of pKa, pKb, and concentrations of the solutions tested. More details about this figure will be discussed by Prof. H.Y.Tsai and her coworkers on page 1532-1536 in this issue.

In this figure , commercial CuNi alloys are converted to be porous Cu-rich CuNi alloys via a simple electrochemical dealloying process in ionic liquid to show improved electrochemical activities towards nitrate reduction. The dissolved Cu(II) ions are re-deposited at the cathode and both Cu(II) and Ni(II) ions can be removed by water extraction. More details about this figure will be discussed by Dr. Po-Yu Chen and his coworkers on page 909–919 in this issue.

This special issue commemorates the 70th volume of the Journal of the Chinese Chemical Society (JCCS), the flagship journal of The Chemical Society located in Taipei launched in 1933 in mainland China and later resumed in 1954 in Taiwan. In this special issue, we have invited chemists from a broad range of disciplines and expertise to showcase the diversity and activity of chemical research. We hope that readers will thoroughly enjoy the content.

In this figure , two allotropes of graphene, graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide, were synthesized by the modified Hummers' method. Facile synthesis of Sm2O3/GO and Sm2O3/rGO nanocomposites was carried out via the sol-gel followed by reflux method. Photocatalysis activities got enhanced in Sm2O3/rGO as compared to Sm2O3/GO nanocomposite and zones of inhibition of antibacterial activities of Sm2O3/rGO were found more as compared Sm2O3/GO nanocomposite. More details about this figure will be discussed by Prof. Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh and his co-workers on page 32–45 in this issue.

In this figure , a 1,2,3-triazole linker bridged flavanol and benzenesulfonamide as hybrid molecules via click chemistry. The twelve target molecules were evaluated against human non-small-cell lung cancer cells (A549 and H1975), and two of them performed promising anti-cancer activity while being selective and sparing MRC5 normal lung cells. More details about this figure will be discussed by Dr. Tzenge-Lien Shih and his coworkers on page 1924–1936 in this issue.

In this Invited Paper, a Gashapon machine as an analogy to a ball‐miller–the rolling and collision of capsule toys in the former is similar to the experience of solid reactants in the latter. The mechanical force used to grind solid mixtures of pseudorotaxanes and stoppers (or, for slippage, macrocycles and dumbbell‐shaped threads) in a ball‐miller can drive reactions to afford rotaxanes with high efficiency under conditions of no solvent (or only a trace). Such behavior mimics the operation of a Gashapon machine: the mechanical force used to roll and collide the capsule toys can lead to delightful surprises! More details about this picture will be discussed by Dr. Sheng‐Hsien Chiu on page 134–145 in this issue.

In this paper , a new type of organic‐inorganic hybrid hydrogel was prepared under the condition of low air press using SiO2 nanoparticles as initiator. The products shows a novel microstructure and characteristics that increased salt resistance and proper water absorbency. The xerogel showed absorbencies of 102.8 g/g for 0.9 wt% NaCl solution, respectively. More details will be discussed by Dr. Haiwang Wang and his co‐workers on page 157–293 in this issue.

This invited paper depicts that nitric oxide reductases have been recognized as NO denitrification to N2O by utilizing transition metal ions cofactor. Biomimetic model study signifies that transition metal-mediated NO-to-[N2O2]2−-to-N2O transformation via either the inter/intra-molecular [NO]−-[NO]− coupling or metal-[NO]2− radical coupling with exogenous ·NO. More details about this figure will be discussed by Prof. Wen-Feng Liaw and his co-worker on page 260–266 in this issue.
