The propagation of optical signals in optical fiber amplifier is treated with fully quantum mechanics method in this paper. The micro-Hamiltonian of the system with nonlinear effect is derived by combining spatial mode and temporal mode, and propagation equation of optical pulses in a optical fiber amplifier is derived with dispersion relation. The characteristic parameters such as gain, output power and noise figure of the amplifier are analyzed and their quantum mechanics formulas are obtained. 相似文献

A multi-section circuit model of quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifier is proposed by employing the standard rate equations. Using this model, gain spectra, saturation property, and occupation probability of quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifier are analyzed by PSPICE simulation. An integrated circuit subsystem of quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifier cascaded with electro-absorption modulator is also derived to investigate the patterning effect reduction in wavelength conversion. 相似文献

在光电子器件散射参量定义的基础上建立了基于直接扣除法的半导体光放大器频率响应测量系统,测量中通过扣除激光器和探测器系统的频率响应,得到放大器固有的频率响应。对InGaAsP体材料行波腔半导体光放大器样品进行了测量,得到了放大器在不同注入光功率和不同偏置电流下的频率响应曲线。这些曲线很好地反应了半导体光放大器的增益饱和和噪声特性,进一步分析发现半导体光放大器对低频调制信号的放大能力弱于对高频信号的放大能力,分析认为其原因在于半导体光放大器的载流子寿命有限导致低频信号长时间消耗载流子时,载流子数量无法及时恢复,从而使得增益降低。 相似文献

Real time phase regeneration is necessary for degraded phase modulation format optical communication systems.A regenerator based on the discrimitive gain effect of a semiconductor optical amplifier was proposed in recent years.In this paper,for this type of regenerator,its optimal working condition is found by solving the dynamic equations which describe the variance of the optical field and carrier density in the semiconductor optical amplifier by the finite difference method.The results show that the optimal improvement of signal Q factor can reach more than 2.2 dB. 相似文献

Multisection semiconductor lasers for optical microwave generation have been fabricated that consist of a loss-coupled distributed feedback (LC-DFB), a phase control, and an amplifier section. High-frequency self-pulsations are generated according to the concept of a single-mode laser with short optical feedback. The effect of the optical feedback via the phase control and the amplifier section on the self-pulsation is apparently shown as a result of the superior single-mode characteristic of the LC-DFB section. Continuous frequency tuning is achieved in the range of 17-35 GHz. 相似文献

We propose a millimeter wave radio-over-fiber system to provide downlink service by using four-wave-mixing effect in semiconductor optical amplifier for millimeter-wave generation. At the central station, microwave source is 5.4-GHz. The optical carrier suppression modulation scheme and semiconductor optical amplifier are employed to simultaneously generate 32.4-GHz (sextuple fundamental) optical millimeter wave and up-convert data signal. At the base station, the downstream is received by a high-speed photodiode and base data are recovered by an electrical mixer. Theoretic analysis and experimental results show that the downlink 2.5-Gb/s data is successfully transmitted over 20-km single mode fiber with less than 0.15-dB power penalty. 相似文献

An extremely broad emission spectrum is obtained for semiconductor optical amplifiers with multiple quantum wells fabricated on the substrate. The spectral width is nearly 400 nm (1200–1600 nm), which covers the entire usable bandwidth of an optical fiber. Broadband characteristics allow observing three novel effects: (i) the bi-directional guided effect of lasing mode in a bent waveguide of semiconductor optical amplifiers, (ii) the optical switching effect in one semiconductor optical amplifier for optical communication band, and (iii) the effect of separate confinement heterostructure layer thickness. 相似文献

为了研究低温条件下Yb:YAG放大器的增益和热特性,搭建了一套液氮冷却的低温放大器,开展了实验研究。测量了不同泵浦强度下的小信号增益以及低温和常温下的介质热致波前畸变。结果表明:低温条件下,可以用更少的泵浦能量得到高于常温的增益;常温下泵浦电流200A、脉冲宽度1200μs的小信号增益为1.59;低温下泵浦电流200A、脉冲宽度400μs的小信号增益为1.82,光光效率显著提高。自发辐射放大(ASE)问题在低温下更加显著,采用短脉冲泵浦有利于降低ASE的影响。低温的热管理效果较常温有显著提高,可以在更高的平均功率下运行。 相似文献

对LD泵浦的掠入射板条放大器链系统激光介质的热效应进行研究。针对掠入射放大器结构建立了相应的热力学模型,对激光介质的温度场分布、热致波前畸变和热透镜效应进行了详细的理论分析。利用有限元分析软件COMSOL模拟了晶体内部的温度、应力及应变的分布情况,并进一步讨论了板条厚度、泵浦尺寸以及种子光入射角对光程差和热透镜造成的影响。结果表明,随着泵浦光斑尺寸和种子光入射角的增大,光程差变小,热透镜效应减弱;板条厚度对光程差和热透镜的影响较小。模拟计算结果对于预测板条热效应的强弱、热效应的补偿,以及放大器链结构参数的设计提供了依据。 相似文献

We investigate the saturation properties of four-wave mixing of short optical pulses in a semiconductor optical amplifier. By varying the gain of the optical amplifier, we find a strong dependence of both conversion efficiency and signal-to-background ratio on pulse width and bit rate. In particular, the signal-to-background ratio can be optimized for a specific amplifier gain. This behavior, which is coherently described in experiment and theory, is attributed to the dynamics of the amplified spontaneous emission, which is the main source of noise in a semiconductor optical amplifier. 相似文献
