Epoxy based polymer nano-composite was prepared by dispersing graphite nano-platelets (GNPs) using two different techniques: three-roll mill (3RM) and sonication combined with high speed shear mixing (Soni_hsm). The influence of addition of GNPs on the electrical and thermal conductivity, fracture toughness and storage modulus of the nano-composite was investigated. The GNP/epoxy prepared by 3RM technique showed a maximum electrical conductivity of 1.8 × 10−03 S/m for 1.0 wt% which is 3 orders of magnitude higher than those prepared by Soni_hsm. The percentage of increase in thermal conductivity was only 11% for 1.0 wt% and 14% for 2.0 wt% filler loading. Dynamic mechanical analysis results showed 16% increase in storage modulus for 0.5 wt%, although the Tg did not show any significant increase. Single edge notch bending (SENB) fracture toughens (KIC) measurements were carried out for different weight percentage of the filler content. The toughening effect of GNP was most significant at 1.0 wt% loading, where a 43% increase in KIC was observed. Among the two different dispersion techniques, 3RM process gives the optimum dispersion where both electrical and mechanical properties are better.  相似文献

In the present study, a series of iPP/SiO2 nanocomposites, containing 1, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10 and 15 wt% SiO2 nanoparticles, were prepared by melt mixing in a twin screw co-rotating extruder. Poly(propylene-g-maleic anhydride) copolymer (PP-g-MA) containing 0.6 wt% maleic anhydride content was added to all nanocomposites at three different concentrations, 1, 2.5 and 5 wt%, based on silica content. Mechanical properties such as tensile strength at break and Young’s modulus were found to increase and to be mainly affected by the content of silica nanoparticles as well as by the copolymer content. For the tensile strength at break as well as for yield point, a maximum was observed, corresponding to the samples containing 2.5-5 wt% SiO2. At higher concentrations, large nanosilica agglomerates are formed that have as a result a decrease in tensile strength. Young’s modulus increases almost linearly on the addition of SiO2, and takes values up to 60% higher than that of neat iPP. Higher concentrations of PP-g-MA resulted in a further enhancement of mechanical properties due to silica agglomerate reduction. This finding was verified from SEM and TEM micrographs. Evidently the surface silica hydroxyl groups of SiO2 nanoparticles react with maleic anhydride groups of PP-g-MA and lead to a finer dispersion of individual SiO2 nanoparticles in the iPP matrix. The enhanced adhesion in the interface of the two materials, as a result of the mentioned reaction, has been studied and proved by using several equations. The increased Vicat point of all nanocomposites, by increasing the PP-g-MA content, can also be mentioned as a positive effect.  相似文献

The solid proton conductor, phosphatoantimonic acid, HSbP2O8 · H2O was prepared by ion exchange of the corresponding potassium salt. The composite membranes of SPEEK with up to 40 wt% of HSbP2O8 · H2O were prepared by introducing the solid proton conductor from the aqueous suspension. The composite membranes were characterized using FT-IR, powder X-ray diffraction, SEM, DSC/TGA. Thermal stability of the composite membranes was slightly lower than that of SPEEK. The composite membranes had higher water uptake when compared with SPEEK and the membranes exhibited controlled swelling up to 50 °C. The proton conductivity of the membranes was measured under 100% relative humidity up to 70 °C. The composite membranes showed enhanced proton conductivity up to 20 wt% of HSbP2O8 · H2O and the conductivity was reduced with further increase of HSbP2O8 · H2O loading. A maximum of four-fold increase in proton conductivity at 70 °C was observed for the composite membrane with 20 wt% of solid proton conductor.  相似文献

An electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composite based on ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) loaded with economical graphite-carbon black (CB) hybrid fillers was prepared via a green and facile methodology, i.e., high-speed mechanical mixing combined with hot compression thus avoiding the assistance of the intensive ultrasound dispersion in volatile organic solvents. In this composite, the graphite-CB hybrid fillers were selectively distributed in the interfacial regions of UHMWPE domains resulting a typical segregated structure. Thanks to the specific morphology of segregated conductive networks along with the synergetic effect of large-sized graphite flakes and small-sized CB nanoparticles, a low filler loading of 7.7 vol% (15 wt%) yielded the graphite-CB/UHMWPE composites with a satisfactory electrical conductivity of 33.9 S/m and a superior shielding effectiveness of 40.2 dB, manifesting the comparable value of the pricey large-aspect-ratio carbon nanofillers (e.g., carbon nanotubes and graphene nanosheets) based polymer composites. More interestingly, with the addition of 15 wt% graphite-CB (1/3, W/W) hybrid fillers, the tensile strength and elongation at break of the composite reached 25.3 MPa and 126%, respectively; with a remarkable increase of 58.1% and 2420% over the conventional segregated graphite/UHMWPE composites. The mechanical reinforcement could be attributed to the favor of the small-sized CB particles in the polymer molecular diffusion between UHMWPE domains which in turn provided a stronger interfacial adhesion. This work provides a facile, green and affordable strategy to obtain the polymer composites with high electrical conductivity, efficient EMI shielding, and balanced mechanical performance.  相似文献

In the aim of producing fully organic bionanocomposite based on poly(lactide) (PLA), cellulose nanowhiskers (CNW) were grafted by n-octadecyl-isocyanate (CNW-ICN) applying an in situ surface grafting method. The compatibilizing effect of the long aliphatic grafted chain was investigated by thermal, mechanical and permeability analysis of solvent cast nanocomposite films. The grafted CNW-ICN could be successfully dispersed in the polymer matrix. The gained compatibility brought about a nucleating effect, decreasing the half time of isothermal crystallization from 25 min for the neat PLA to 8.4 min for the nanocomposite including 2.5 wt% CNW-ICN, e.g., tensile strength was improved by 10 MPa for the same 2.5 wt% CNW-ICN/PLA composite. Mechanical reinforcement was also effective in the rubbery state of PLA and increased the tensile modulus of the rubbery plateau providing thereby thermal resistance to the polymer. Oxygen barrier properties did not change significantly upon the inclusion of CNW-ICN, even when the quantity of CNW-ICN was increased to 15 wt%. More interestingly, the water vapour permeability of the CNW-ICN nanocomposite was always lower than the one of ungrafted CNW composites, which led to the conclusion that the hydrophobic surface graft and improved compatibility could counteract the effect of inclusion of hydrophilic structures in the matrix on water vapour transport. In conclusion, the surface grafting of CNW with isocyanates might be an easy and versatile tool for designing fully organic bionanocomposites with tailored properties.  相似文献

Thin polyetherimide (PEI) films containing 0.1–3 wt.% multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), have been prepared from three types of MWCNTs, namely pristine, oxidized and polymerized ionic liquid (PIL) functionalized CNTs. Oxidized and PIL functionalized CNTs (CNT–PIL) showed better dispersion in the matrix compared to pristine CNTs. For CNT–PIL, alignment of CNTs has been observed in the matrix. Regardless of the type of CNTs, their incorporation led to an increased thermal stability of the polymer matrix. Dynamic mechanical analysis showed that storage modulus increased by up to 25% (3 wt.% CNT–PIL) and an increase in the height of the damping peaks (tan δ). The addition of CNTs did not have any significant influence on the tensile properties and Tg of the polymer, and the electrical conductivity did not decrease in the case of modified CNTs.  相似文献

Mechanical and flame retardant properties of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer/organoclay/alumina trihydrate (ATH) nanocomposites have been studied. ATH with different particle sizes, ATH1 (2.2-5.2 μm) and ATH2 (1.5-3.5 μm), and three different surface treatments, uncoated, fatty acid coated and silane coated, have been used. A synergistic effect was observed in EVA/organoclay/ATH nanocomposites with the total heat evolved (THE) and the heat release rate (HRR) lower than that of EVA/ATH composite. It was also found that mechanical and flame retardant properties are affected in different ways by the particle size and the surface treatment of ATH fillers. Improvements in tensile and flame retardant properties were observed in nanocomposites when uncoated ATH fillers and fatty acid coated ATH2 filler were used. On the other hand, silane coating on ATH1 and ATH2 improves limiting oxygen index (LOI) and leads to higher tignition and the best char stability after cone calorimeter test.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate physical and mechanical properties of graphene oxide (GO)/polyethersulfone (PES) nanocomposite films. The films were produced by solution casting method. The mechanical properties of composite films were evaluated by tensile test. A significant enhancement in the mechanical properties of neat PES films was obtained incorporating a small amount of GO loading (0.05–1 wt.%). The highest tensile strength was observed at 1 wt.% of GO. Comparisons were made between experimental data and the Halpin–Tsai model predictions for the tensile strength and modulus of GO/PES composites. The effect of an orientation factor on model predictions was also acquired. The hydrophilicity of the nanocomposite was evaluated by assessing contact angle and enhanced wet ability of the films was obtained with increasing the amount of GO up to 1%. The morphology of the nanocomposites was investigated using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy and the results revealed a good dispersion of GO in the PES matrix. The thermal behavior of the composite was also studied. Thermal stability of composites was increased by adding the GO. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Graphene oxide (GO) was functionalized using three different diamines, namely ethylenediamine (EDA), 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS) and p-phenylenediamine (PPD) to reinforce an epoxy adhesive, with the aim of improving the bonding strength of carbon fiber/epoxy composite. The chemical structure of the functionalized GO (FGO) nanosheets was characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and XRD. Hand lay-up, as a simple method, was applied for 3-ply composite fabrication. In the sample preparation, the fiber-to-resin ratio of 40:60 (w:w) and fiber orientations of 0°, 90°, and 0° were used. The GO and FGO nanoparticles were first dispersed in the epoxy resin, and then the GO and FGO reinforced epoxy (GO- or FGO-epoxy) were directly introduced into the carbon fiber layers to improve the mechanical properties. The GO and FGO contents varied in the range of 0.1–0.5 wt%. Results showed that the mechanical properties, in terms of tensile and flexural properties, were mainly dependent on the type of GO functionalization followed by the percentage of modified GO. As a result, both the tensile and flexural strengths are effectively enhanced by the FGOs addition. The tensile and flexural moduli are also increased by the FGO filling in the epoxy resin due to the excellent elastic modulus of FGO. The optimal FGO content for effectively improving the overall composite mechanical performance was found to be 0.3 wt%. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that the failure mechanism of carbon fibers pulled out from the epoxy matrix contributed to the enhancement of the mechanical performance of the epoxy. These results show that diamine FGOs can strengthen the interfacial bonding between the carbon fibers and the epoxy adhesive.  相似文献

Nylon 66 microcomposites with various weight percentage of titanium dioxide (TiO2) were prepared by a twin screw extruder and investigated for mechanical and tribological properties. Mechanical properties of the composite such as tensile strength/modulus, flexural strength/modulus, impact, and compressive strength first showed an increase up to 6 wt% TiO2 followed by a decrease at higher filler loading. The value of heat deflection temperature increased with the increase in wt% of TiO2. Sliding wear tests were performed on pin‐on‐disk equipment under different loads, sliding velocity, and sliding distance combinations. It was found that micro‐TiO2‐Nylon 66 composite exhibited reduced wear and coefficient of friction up to 6 wt% TiO2. Micro‐TiO2 at 2 wt% was most effective in improving the tribological properties of plain nylon 66. The worn surfaces were examined by scanning electron microscopy to understand the wear mechanism. The optimal combination from 2 wt% to 6 wt% micro‐TiO2‐Nylon 66 can be used depending upon the application requiring improvement in tribological or mechanical properties, respectively.  相似文献

Thermal conduction for electronic equipment has grown in importance in light of the burgeoning of 5G communication. It is imperatively desired to design highly thermally conductive fillers and polymer composite films with prominent Joule heating characteristics and extensive mechanical properties. In this work, “solvothermal & in situ growth” method is carried out to prepare “Fungal tree”-like hetero-structured silver nanowires@boron nitride nanosheet (AgNWs@BNNS) thermally conductive fillers. The thermally conductive AgNWs@BNNS/ANF composite films are obtained by the method of “suction filtration self-assembly and hot-pressing”. When the mass fraction of AgNWs@BNNS is 50 wt%, AgNWs@BNNS/ANF composite film presents the optimal thermal conductivity coefficient of 9.44 W/(m ⋅ K) and excellent tensile strength of 136.6 MPa, good temperature-voltage response characteristics, superior electrical stability and reliability, which promise a wide application potential in 5G electronic devices.  相似文献

In the study, the conductive graphite flakes filled poly(urethane-imide) composites (PUI/GFs) with high performance were constructed by the thermal imidization self-foaming reaction. It was found that the foaming action could promote the redistribution of GFs during curing process and the formation of stable linear conductive pathways. The percolation threshold of PUI/GFs composites was lowered from 1.26 wt% (2000 mesh GFs) or 0.86 wt% (1000 mesh GFs) to 0.79 wt% (500 mesh GFs), which were relatively low percolation thresholds for polymer/GFs composites so far. When the content of 500 mesh GFs was 4.0 wt%, the electrical conductivity of the composite was as high as 3.96 × 10?1 S/m. Also, a poly(urethane-imide) (PUI) matrix with excellent thermal stability (Td10%: 334.97 °C) and mechanical properties (elongation at break: 324.52%, tensile strength: 15.88 MPa) was obtained by introducing the rigid aromatic heterocycle into the polyurethane (PU) hard segments. Moreover, the zero temperature coefficient of resistivity for the composites was observed at the temperature range from 30 °C to 200 °C. Consequently, PUI/GFs composites may provide the novel strategy for considerable conductive materials with high thermal stability in electrical conductivity.  相似文献

A new family of organometallic/inorganic nanohybrid Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films consisting of rigid-rod organomercury acetylide complex (OMA) as the π-conjugated organometallic composite and heteropolyacid salts MPA (MPA = K3PMo12O40, K5BW12O40, Na5IMo6O62) of the Keggin and Anderson structures as the inorganic composite, were prepared and characterized by π−A isotherms, UV−Vis absorption spectra, fluorescence spectra, scanning tunneling microscopy, atomic force microscopy imaging and low-angle X-ray diffraction. Our experimental results indicate that steady Langmuir and LB films are formed in pure water and heteropolyacid salt subphases. Luminescence spectra of hybrid LB films show that MPA can quench the emission of OMA to some extent. These alkynylmercury(II) based LB films display interesting electrical conductivity behavior. They all show decent electrical conductivity, and the tunneling current amounts to ±100 nA when the voltage is set at ±3 ∼ ±5 V.  相似文献

Carbon fillers including multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), carbon black (CB) and graphite were introduced in a cyanate ester (CE) resin, respectively. The effects of the fillers on the electrical and thermal conductivity of the resin were measured and analyzed based on the microscopic observations. MWCNTs, CB and graphite exhibited percolation threshold at 0.1 wt%, 0.5 wt% and 10 wt%, respectively. The maximal electrical conductivity of the composites was 1.08 S/cm, 9.94 × 10−3 S/cm and 1.70 × 10−5 S/cm. MWCNTs showed the best enhancement on the electrical conductivity. The thermal behavior of the composites was analyzed by calorimetry method. Incorporation of MWCNTs, CB and graphite increased the thermal conductivity of CE resin by 90%, 15% and 92%, respectively. Theoretical models were introduced to correlate the thermal conductivity of the CE/MWCNTs composite. The interfacial thermal resistance between CE resin and MWCNTs was 8 × 10−8 m2K/W and the straightness ratio was 0.2. The MWCNTs were seriously entangled and agglomerated. Simulation results revealed that thermal conductivity of the CE/MWCNTs composites can be substantially elevated by increasing the straightness ratio and/or filler content of MWCNTs.  相似文献

Cellulose (CE) composite films with high tensile strength, modulus, remarkable elongation as well as excellent electrical conductivity were successfully prepared by dispersing poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in CE matrix via the help of ionic liquid 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry results verified that a physical interaction junction existed between PBS and CE. Scanning electron micrograph (SEM) showed that the low content PBS was uniformly dispersed in CE matrix, leading to a tough and ductile fractured surface. The elongation at break of CE composite film with 1 wt% PBS was increased to 25.9 %, which showed an increase of 325 % compared to that of neat CE film (6.07 %). But high-content PBS acted as the structural defect in the CE matrix. MWCNTs were further added to improve the mechanical and conductive properties of the composite film. The tensile strength and Young’s modulus of MWCNT/CE-PBS composite film with 4 wt% MWCNTs were respectively increased by 33.6 and 140 % compared to CE-PBS film. The electrical conductivity of MWCNT/CE-PBS film was also improved by 8–9 orders of magnitude from 2.5 × 10?14 to 1.3 × 10?5 S/m.  相似文献

Highly conductive microfibers made of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT/PSS) were fabricated by wet-spinning and subsequent dip-treatment in ethylene glycol. The electrical conductivity of the PEDOT/PSS microfibers with a diameter of ca. 5 μm was significantly increased from 74 S cm−1 to 467 S cm−1 by the dip-treatment in 3 min. The result was explained by removal of insulating PSS from the surface of the PEDOT/PSS grains and crystallization of PEDOT, which led to the formation of large numbers of higher conductive grains that enhanced the transport of charge carriers in the microfiber. The mechanical properties of the microfibers were also improved by the dip-treatment where Young’s modulus and tensile strength increased from 3.2 GPa and 94 MPa to 4.0 GPa and 130 MPa, respectively.  相似文献

In this research, the effect of cerium dioxide (CeO2) nanoparticles on electrical properties of poly(butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) has been investigated. Polymer nanocomposites reinforced with variable contents of CeO2 nanoparticles (3, 5, 7 and 10 wt%) were fabricated by an in situ polymerization method. The formation of nanocomposites was analyzed by FTIR, XRD, SEM and TEM analysis. Also, the AC and DC conductivities of CeO2 nanoparticles-reinforced PBMA were systematically studied with respect to different loadings of CeO2 fillers. The FTIR, XRD and morphological studies revealed that the nanoparticles were well inserted and uniformly dispersed into the macromolecular chain of PBMA. The AC conductivity of PBMA/CeO2 composite increases not only with the loading of nanoparticles but also with the temperature of the system. The activation energy determined from AC electrical conductivity was found to decrease with the frequency and temperature. DC conductivity of the nanocomposites was increased with the insertion of nanoparticles into PBMA. The DC conductivity of all the composites was greater than pure PBMA. The applicability of different theoretical models such as Scarisbrick, Bueche and McCullough equations was compared with the experimentally determined DC conductivity of PBMA/CeO2 nanocomposites. These models fail to explain the conductivity of polymer composite in the entire loading of fillers. Hence, a new theoretical model is proposed in this study and it shows good agreement with the experimentally observed conductivity values.

An intumescent system consisting of ammonium polyphosphate (APP) as an acid source and blowing agent, pentaerythritol (PER) as a carbonific agent and natural zeolite (clinoptilolite, Gördes II) as a synergistic agent was used in this study to enhance flame retardancy of polypropylene (FR-PP). Zeolite was incorporated into flame retardant formulation at four different concentrations (1, 2, 5, and 10 wt%) to investigate synergism with the flame retardant materials. Filler content was fixed at 30 wt% of total amounts of flame retardant PP composites. Zeolite and APP were treated with two different coupling agents namely, 3-(trimethoxysilyl)-1-propanethiol and (3-aminopropyl)-triethoxysilane for investigation of the influence of surface treatments on mechanical properties and flame retardant performance of composites. Maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (MAPP) was used for making polypropylene hydrophilic. Flammability of FR-PP composites was measured by the determination of limiting oxygen index (LOI). The LOI values reached to a maximum value of 41% for mercapto silane treated APP:PER (2:1) PP composite containing 5 wt% zeolite. The tensile strength of composites was increased by the addition of MAPP and elongation at break of composites was increased with silane treatments.  相似文献

5-Vinyltetrazole (VT)-based polymer is mainly produced by ‘click chemistry’ from polyacrylonitrile due to the unavailability of 5-vinyltetrazole monomer, which usually produces copolymers of VT and acrylonitrile rather than pure poly(5-vinyltetrazole) (PVT). In present work, VT was synthesized from 5-(2-chloroethyl)tetrazole via dehydrochlorination. A series of PVT with different molecular weight were synthesized by normal free radical polymerization. The chemical structures of VT and PVT were characterized by 1H NMR and FTIR. PVT without any doped acid exhibits certain proton conductivity at higher temperature and anhydrous state. The proton conductivity of PVT decreases at least 2 orders of magnitude after methylation of tetrazole. PVT and PVT/H3PO4 composite membranes are thermally stable up to 200 °C. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of PVT/xH3PO4 composite membranes is shifted from 90 °C for x = 0.5 to 55 °C for x = 1. The temperature dependence of DC conductivity for pure PVT exhibits a simple Arrhenius behavior in the temperature range of 90–160 °C, while PVT/xH3PO4 composite membranes with higher H3PO4 concentration can be fitted by Vogel–Tamman–Fulcher (VTF) equation. PVT/1.0H3PO4 exhibits an anhydrous proton conductivity of 3.05 × 10−3 at 110 °C. The transmission of the PVT/xH3PO4 composite membrane is above 85% in the wavelength of visible light and changes little with acid contents. Thus, PVT/xH3PO4 composite membranes have potential applications not only in intermediate temperature fuel cells but also in solid electrochromic device.  相似文献

The cosmetic market for hyaluronic acid (HA)-based dermal fillers is in continuous and rapid growth and, simultaneously, the development of more effective and safer products is strongly intensifying. In order to highlight the differences among the currently available fillers, in terms of their physical characteristics and on the relation of such properties with product effectiveness, an in vitro evaluation of eight marketed HA-based gels was performed.Filler swelling properties, soluble HA fraction and rheological behaviour were investigated. Furthermore the relative stability to enzymatic hydrolysis was tested. The presence of soluble HA in the formulations varied from 7 ± 1(%) to 33 ± 5(%) with respect to the total HA concentration. Chromatographic analyses showed that the soluble fractions consist of low molecular weight chains (Mw: 260-480 kDa) presenting large distributions (Mw/Mn: 1.6-2.5). The investigated fillers were found to be non-equilibrium gels in their commercial formulation also showing different swelling capacities. Rheological measurements indicated a shear thinning behaviour for all the products and elastic modulus values varied over a wide range (100-1800 Pa). Fillers proved differently sensitive to enzymatic degradation. Swelling capacity and enzymatic stability were found consistently dependent on the total HA concentration, insoluble/soluble HA ratio and on the crosslinking extent.  相似文献
