Free transverse vibrations of nonhomogeneous orthotropic rectangular plates with bilinear thickness variation resting on Winkler foundation are presented here using two dimensional boundary characteristic orthogonal polynomials in the Rayleigh-Ritz method on the basis of classical plate theory. Gram-Schmidt process has been used to generate orthogonal polynomials. The nonhomogeneity of the plate is assumed to arise due to linear variations in elastic properties and density of the plate material with the in-plane coordinates. The two dimensional thickness variation is taken as the Cartesian product of linear variations along the two concurrent edges of the plate. Effect of nonhomogeneity parameters, aspect ratio and thickness variation together with foundation parameter on the natural frequencies has been illustrated for the first three modes of vibration for four different combinations of clamped, simply supported and free edges correct to four decimal places. Three dimensional mode shapes for specified plate for all the four boundary conditions have been plotted. A comparison of results in special cases with published one has been presented.  相似文献

Effect of nonhomogeneity on the vibrational characteristics of thin orthotropic rectangular plates of bilinearly varying thickness has been studied using boundary characteristic orthogonal polynomials in the Rayleigh-Ritz method. The thickness variation is taken as the Cartesian product of linear variations along two concurrent edges of the plate. The orthogonal polynomials in two variables are generated using the Gram-Schmidt process. The nonhomogeneity of the plate material is assumed to arise due to linear variations in Young’s moduli, shear modulus and density of the plate with the in-plane coordinates. Numerical results have been computed for four different combinations of clamped, simply supported and free edges. Effect of thickness variation together with varying values of aspect ratio and nonhomogeneity on the natural frequencies is illustrated for the first three modes of vibration. A state space approach for three-dimensional analysis of rectangular orthotropic elastic plates subjected to external loads on the top and bottom faces is developed. Through Hamiltonian variational formulation via Legendre’s transformation, the basic equations of elasticity are formulated into the state space framework in which the state equation exhibits Hamiltonian characteristics and the associated eigensystem possesses symplectic orthogonality. By means of separation of variables and eigenfunction expansion, three-dimensional elasticity solutions for orthotropic rectangular plates with two opposite edges simply supported and the other two arbitrary—which can be any combinations of simply-supported, clamped, and traction-free edges—are determined in a systematic way. The existing elasticity solution for the fully simply-supported plate is recovered. The through-thickness variations of the displacements and stresses are evaluated within the context.  相似文献

The interlaminar stresses in a thin laminated rectangular orthotropic plate with four sides simply supported edges under bending was determined by using the generalized differential quadrature (GDQ) method involving the effects of thermal expansion strain and transverse load. The approximate stress and displacement solutions are obtained under the effects of thermal expansion force and uniform pressure load for eight-layer unidirectional laminates, symmetric cross-ply laminates. Numerical results on the dominant interlaminar stresses and displacement of bending analysis are compared to the Navier solution. The thermal induced forces have significant effect on the bending of plates.  相似文献

An analytical solution is presented for three-dimensional thermomechanical deformations of a simply supported functionally graded (FG) rectangular plate subjected to time-dependent thermal loads on its top and/or bottom surfaces. Material properties are taken to be analytical functions of the thickness coordinate. The uncoupled quasi-static linear thermoelasticity theory is adopted in which the change in temperature, if any, due to deformations is neglected. A temperature function that identically satisfies thermal boundary conditions at the edges and the Laplace transformation technique are used to reduce equations governing the transient heat conduction to an ordinary differential equation (ODE) in the thickness coordinate which is solved by the power series method. Next, the elasticity problem for the simply supported plate for each instantaneous temperature distribution is analyzed by using displacement functions that identically satisfy boundary conditions at the edges. The resulting coupled ODEs with variable coefficients are also solved by the power series method. The analytical solution is applicable to a plate of arbitrary thickness. Results are given for two-constituent metal-ceramic FG rectangular plates with a power-law through-the-thickness variation of the volume fraction of the constituents. The effective elastic moduli at a point are determined by either the Mori–Tanaka or the self-consistent scheme. The transient temperature, displacements, and thermal stresses at several critical locations are presented for plates subjected to either time-dependent temperature or heat flux prescribed on the top surface. Results are also given for various volume fractions of the two constituents, volume fraction profiles and the two homogenization schemes.  相似文献

从三维弹性力学基本方程出发,通过假设自由边的边界位移函数,建立了正交异性层合板的状态方程,给出了对边自由,对边简支矩形板的解析解.此解满足层合板的基本方程和层间连续条件.用本文的方法比较容易处理层合板的自由边.算例表明,数值结果具有较高的精度.  相似文献

This paper analyses the bending of rectangular orthotropic plates on a Winkler elastic foundation.Appropriate definition of symplectic inner product and symplectic space formed by generalized displacements establish dual variables and dual equations in the symplectic space.The operator matrix of the equation set is proven to be a Hamilton operator matrix.Separation of variables and eigenfunction expansion creates a basis for analyzing the bending of rectangular orthotropic plates on Winkler elastic foundation and obtaining solutions for plates having any boundary condition.There is discussion of symplectic eigenvalue problems of orthotropic plates under two typical boundary conditions,with opposite sides simply supported and opposite sides clamped.Transcendental equations of eigenvalues and symplectic eigenvectors in analytical form given.Analytical solutions using two examples are presented to show the use of the new methods described in this paper.To verify the accuracy and convergence,a fully simply supported plate that is fully and simply supported under uniformly distributed load is used to compare the classical Navier method,the Levy method and the new method.Results show that the new technique has good accuracy and better convergence speed than other methods,especially in relation to internal forces.A fully clamped rectangular plate on Winkler foundation is solved to validate application of the new methods,with solutions compared to those produced by the Galerkin method.  相似文献

This paper presents the analytical solutions for the bending of orthotropic rectangular thin plates by the double finite integral transform, which, as an effective tool in solving plate problems, should have received attention. As a representative and difficult problem in the theory of plates, free plates’ bending is successfully solved to demonstrate the accuracy of the method by comparing the present analytical solutions with those from the literature as well as those by the finite element method. With the proper integral transform kernels, the proposed solution procedure is applicable to the bending of orthotropic rectangular plates with all combinations of simply supported, clamped and free boundary conditions, which serves as an elegant approach to analytical solutions of plate bending problems.  相似文献

The dimensionless equations of motion are derived based on the Mindlin plate theory to study the transverse vibration of thick rectangular plates without further usage of any approximate method. The exact closed form characteristic equations are given within the validity of the Mindlin plate theory for plates having two opposite sides simply supported. The six distinct cases considered involve all possible combinations of classical boundary conditions at the other two sides of rectangular plates. Accurate eigenfrequency parameters are presented for a wide range of aspect ratio η and thickness ratio δ for each case. The three dimensional deformed mode shapes together with their associated contour plots obtained from the exact closed form eigenfunctions are also presented. Finally, the effect of boundary conditions, aspect ratios and thickness ratios on the eigenfrequency parameters and vibratory behavior of each distinct cases are studied in detail. It is believed that in the present work, the exact closed form characteristic equations and their associated eigenfunctions, except for the plates with four edges simply supported, for the rest of considered six cases are obtained for the first time.  相似文献

针对非均匀Winkler弹性地基上变厚度矩形板的自由振动问题,通过一种有效的数值求解方法——微分变换法(DTM),研究其无量纲固有频率特性。已知变厚度矩形板对边为简支边界条件,其他两边的边界条件为简支、固定或自由任意组合。采用DTM将非均匀Winkler弹性地基上变厚度矩形板无量纲化的自由振动控制微分方程及其边界条件变换为等价的代数方程,得到含有无量纲固有频率的特征方程。数值结果退化为均匀Winker弹性地基上矩形板以及变厚度矩形板的情形,并与已有文献采用的不同求解方法进行比较,结果表明,DTM具有非常高的精度和很强的适用性。最后,在不同边界条件下分析地基变化参数、厚度变化参数和长宽比对矩形板无量纲固有频率的影响,并给出了非均匀Winkler弹性地基上对边简支对边固定变厚度矩形板的前六阶振型。  相似文献

基于双参数弹性基础模型,研究了梯度弹性基础上正交异性薄板的屈曲问题. 首先,基于能量法与变分原理,给出了梯度弹性基础上正交异性薄板的屈曲控制方程,并得到了梯度弹性基础刚度系数K1 与K2的计算式;进而,通过将位移函数采用三角函数展开的方法,给出了单向压缩载荷作用下、四边简支正交异性弹性基础板屈曲载荷的计算式;在算例中,通过将该文的解退化到单纯的正交异性板,并与经典弹性解比较,证明了理论的正确性;最后,求解了弹性模量在厚度方向上呈幂律分布的梯度基础上的薄板屈曲问题,分析了基础上下表层材料弹性模量比与体积分数指数对屈曲载荷的影响.  相似文献

A recently developed plate theory using the concept of shape function of the transverse coordinate parameter is extended to determine the stress distribution in an orthotropic functionally graded plate subjected to cylindrical bending. The transfer matrix method is presented to derive the shape function. The equations governing the plate deformation are then solved analytically using the transfer matrix method for arbitrary boundary conditions. For a simply supported functionally graded plate, a comparison of the present solution with the exact elasticity solution, the first- and third-order shear deformation plate theories is presented and discussed. It is demonstrated that the present method yields more accurate stresses than the first- and third-order shear deformation theories. The effect of boundary conditions and inhomogeneity of material on the displacements and stresses in functionally graded plates are investigated. A multi-span functionally graded plate with arbitrary boundary conditions is further considered to demonstrate the efficiency of the present method.  相似文献

Relationships between bending solutions (deflections and stress resultants) of the Levinson third-order plate theory are presented in terms of the solutions of the classical plate theory for sectorial plates. These relationships are algebraic in nature, and can be readily used to determine the shear deformation theory (based on the Levinson plate theory) solutions of sectorial plates without going through the process of solving the governing equations. The sectorial plates considered have simply supported radial edges while the circular curved edges may be either simply supported, clamped, or free. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the usefulness of the developed relationships.

In this article, the bending response of a functionally graded plate resting on elastic foundations and subjected to a transverse mechanical load is investigated. An accurate solution for the functionally graded plate with simply supported edges resting on elastic foundations is presented. The interaction between the plate and the elastic foundations is considered and included in the equilibrium equations. Pasternak’s model is used to describe the two-parameter elastic foundations, and get a special case of Winkler’s model by considering one-parameter of elastic foundation. A relationship between the simple and mixed first-order transverse shear deformation theories is presented. Numerical results for deflections and stresses of functionally graded plates are investigated. Comparisons between the results of the simple and mixed first-order theories are made, and appropriate conclusion is formulated. Additional boundary conditions at the edges of the present plates are investigated.  相似文献

The paper deals with dynamic response of a thin-walled rectangular plate subjected to in-plane pulse loading. The plate is made of orthotropic (fibre composite) material in which the principal directions of orthotropy are parallel to the plate edges. The plate is characterised by a widthwise varying fibre volume fraction. The structures are assumed to be simply supported at the loaded ends and at non-loaded ends with five different boundary conditions (both simply supported, both fixed, simply supported fixed, simply supported free edge, fixed free edge). In order to obtain the equations of motion the non-linear theory of orthotropic thin-walled plates has been modified in such a way that it additionally accounts for all components of inertial forces. The differential equations of motion have been obtained from Hamilton’s Principle. The problem of nonlinear static stability was solved with the second order of the Koiter’s asymptotic stability theory of conservative systems. The results obtained from analytical–numerical method were compared with the results from finite element method (FEM).  相似文献

This paper provides an analytical solution for the critical buckling stress of adhesively bonded aluminum hat sections under static axial compression. The governing rectangular plate member of the structure is treated based on the differential equation for out-of-plane deflections of thin plates. Finite element eigenvalue buckling analysis is performed to verify the assumed simply supported boundary conditions for common edges between adjacent plate elements. Elastic restraint is applied to the two loaded edges of the rectangular plate, and the relative critical buckling stress is computed according to the transcendental equations. It is found from experiments that there is no adhesive bonding failure in the elastic buckling stage. The analytical solution yields buckling stress predictions which are in reasonable agreement with measured values.  相似文献

The direct separation of variables is used to obtain the closed-form solutions for the free vibrations of rectangular Mindlin plates. Three different characteristic equations are derived by using three different methods. It is found that the deflection can be expressed by means of the four characteristic roots and the two rotations should be expressed by all the six characteristic roots,which is the particularity of Mindlin plate theory. And the closed-form solutions,which satisfy two of the three governing equations and all boundary conditions and are accurate for rectangular plates with moderate thickness,are derived for any combinations of simply supported and clamped edges. The free edges can also be dealt with if the other pair of opposite edges is simply supported. The present results agree well with results published previously by other methods for different aspect ratios and relative thickness.  相似文献
