A scheme of quantum nondemolition measurement of transverse optical phonons in a Raman crystal is presented through detecting an anti-Stokes field. The exact solutions of the system is obtained. According to the calculation of the criteria for quantum nondemolition measurements, it is shown that under certain conditions the amplitude quadrature component of the phonon mode can be measured without demolition by the phase quadrature component of the anti-Stokes mode.  相似文献

We show that three-level atoms excited by two cavity modes in a Lambda configuration close to electromagnetically induced transparency can produce strongly squeezed bright beams or correlated beams which can be used for quantum nondemolition measurements. The input intensity is the experimental "knob" for tuning the system into a squeezer or a quantum nondemolition device. The quantum correlations become ideal at a critical point characterized by the appearance of a switching behavior in the mean fields intensities. Our predictions, based on a realistic fully quantum three-level model including cavity losses and spontaneous emission, allow direct comparison with future experiments.  相似文献

We explore experimentally quantum nondemolition measurements of atomic spin in a hot potassium vapor in the presence of spin-exchange relaxation. We demonstrate a new technique for backaction evasion by stroboscopic modulation of the probe light. With this technique we study spin noise as a function of polarization for atoms with spin greater than 1/2 and obtain good agreement with a simple theoretical model. We point that, in a system with fast spin exchange, where the spin-relaxation rate is changing with time, it is possible to improve the long-term sensitivity of atomic magnetometry by using quantum nondemolition measurements.  相似文献

The detection of a particle in electromagnetic plus gravitational fields is investigated. We obtain a set of quantum nondemolition variables. The continuous measurements of these nondemolition parameters are analyzed in the framework of restricted path integral formalism. We manipulate the corresponding propagators, and deduce the probabilities associated with the possible measurement outputs.  相似文献

The concept of entangled quantum measurement was demonstrated by the example of the fundamental value of the experiment on quantum nondemolition measurement of a photon in a resonator with the use of a probe atom [1]. The quantum-information analysis of this experiment was performed. A mechanism of information transmission in the nondemolition measurement scheme in the case of the classical and quantum formalism was demonstrated. The results were shown to coincide in both cases. This is the result of copying the classical part of the initial quantum information attributed to a set of quantum object states.  相似文献

We propose a three-party scheme for quantum information splitting(QIS) of an arbitrary single-photon polarization state based on weak cross-Kerr nonlinearity combined with linear optics elements such as polarization beam splitters(PBSs) and half wave plates(HWPs). The scheme is generalized to the arbitrary-party case. With the help of quantum nondemolition(QND) measurements, our schemes can be accomplished in an almost deterministic way. The two schemes are feasible with the current technology.  相似文献

In quantum mechanical bipartite systems, naive extensions of von Neumann’s projective measurement to nonlocal variables can produce superluminal signals and thus violate causality. We analyze the projective quantum nondemolition state-verification in a two-spin system and see how the projection introduces nonlocality without entanglement. For the ideal measurements of “R-nonlocal” variables, we argue that causality violation can be resolved by introducing further restrictions on the post-measurement states, which makes the measurement “Q-nonlocal”. After we generalize these ideas to quantum mechanical harmonic oscillators, we look into the projective measurements of the particle number of a single mode or a wave-packet of a relativistic quantum field in Minkowski space. It turns out that the causality-violating terms in the expectation values of the local operators, generated either by the ideal measurement of the “R-nonlocal” variable or the quantum nondemolition verification of a Fock state, are all suppressed by the IR and UV cutoffs of the theory. Thus relativistic quantum field theories with such projective measurements are effectively causal.  相似文献

The concept of quantum nondemolition (QND) measurement is extended to coherent oscillations in an individual two-state system. Such a measurement enables direct observation of an intrinsic spectrum of these oscillations avoiding the detector-induced dephasing that affects the standard (non-QND) measurements. The suggested scheme can be realized in Josephson-junction qubits which combine flux and charge dynamics.  相似文献

We propose a method for the detection of ground state quantum phases of spinor gases through a series of two quantum nondemolition measurements performed by sending off-resonant, polarized light pulses through the gas. Signatures of various mean-field as well as strongly correlated phases of F=1 and F=2 spinor gases obtained by detecting quantum fluctuations and mean values of polarization of transmitted light are identified.  相似文献

We present a quantum circuit that implements a nondemolition measurement of complementary single- and bipartite properties of a two-qubit system: entanglement and single-partite visibility and predictability. The system must be in a pure state with real coefficients in the computational basis, which allows a direct operational interpretation of those properties. The circuit can be realized in many systems of interest to quantum information.  相似文献

We theoretically study the quantum nondemolition measurements of a flux qubit coupled to a noisy superconduct-ing quantum interference device (SQUID).The obtained analytical results indicate that the measurement probability is frequency-dependent in a short time scale and has a close relationship with the measurement-induced dephasing.Furthermore, when the detuning between the driven and bare resonator equals the coupling strength,we can obtain the maximum measurement rate that is determined by the character of the noise in the SQUID.Finally,we analysed the mixed effect caused by coupling between the non-diagonal term and the external variable. It is found that the initial information of the qubit is destroyed due to quantum tunneling between the qubit states.  相似文献

A quantum stochastic model for the Markovian dynamics of an open system under the nondemolition unsharp observation which is continuous in time, is given. A stochastic equation for the posterior evolution of a quantum continuously observed system is derived and the spontaneous collapse (stochastically continuous reduction of the wave packet) is described. The quantum Langevin evolution equation is solved for the case of a quasi-free Hamiltonian in the initial CCR algebra with a linear output channel, and the posterior dynamics corresponding to an initial Gaussian state is found. It is shown for an example of the posterior dynamics of a quantum oscillator that any mixed state under a complete nondemolition measurement collapses exponentially to a pure Gaussian one.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate the concept of continuous variable quantum erasing. The amplitude quadrature of the signal state is labeled to another state via a quantum nondemolition interaction, leading to a large uncertainty in the determination of the phase quadrature due to the inextricable complementarity of the two observables. We show that by erasing the amplitude quadrature information we are able to recover the phase quadrature information of the signal state.  相似文献

Dispersive quantum nondemolition measurement of the number of photons is analyzed in the micromaser scheme. It has been shown that the stationary Fock state of the field in a cavity that is considered as the result of quantum nondemolition measurement is realized only in a particular case for strictly determined parameters of the system, and small variation in one of the parameters of the system results in a qualitative change in the field state. In the general case, the field state is characterized by large fluctuations of the number of photons and the mean number of photons, which are very sensitive to the parameters of the system. It has been shown that the detection of the Ramsey interference pattern is possible only when the sequence of atoms passing through the cavity is highly monokinetic.  相似文献

We propose a method to probe time-dependent correlations of nontrivial observables in many-body ultracold lattice gases. The scheme uses a quantum nondemolition matter-light interface, first to map the observable of interest on the many-body system into the light and then to store coherently such information into an external system acting as a quantum memory. Correlations of the observable at two (or more) instances of time are retrieved with a single final measurement that includes the readout of the quantum memory. Such a method brings to reach the study of dynamics of many-body systems in and out of equilibrium by means of quantum memories in the field of quantum simulators.  相似文献

We present a deterministic nondestructive hyperentangled Bell state analysis protocol for photons entangled in three degrees of freedom(DOFs),including polarization,spatial-mode,and time-bin DOFs.The polarization Bell state analyzer and spatial-mode Bell state analyzer are constructed by polarization parity-check quantum nondemolition detector(P-QND)and spatial-mode parity-check quantum nondemolition detector(S-QND)using cross-Kerr nonlinearity, respectively. The time-bin Bell state analyzer is constructed by the swap gate for polarization state and time-bin state of a photon(P-T swap gate)and P-QND.The Bell states analyzer for one DOF will not destruct the Bell states of other two DOFs,so the polarization-spatial-time-bin hyperentangled Bell states can be determinately distinguished without destruction. This deterministic nondestructive state analysis method has useful applications in quantum information protocols.  相似文献

A kicked quantum nondemolition measurement is introduced, where a qubit is weakly measured by pumping current. Measurement statistics are derived for weak measurements combined with single-qubit unitary operations. These results are applied to violate a generalization of the Leggett-Garg inequality. The violation is related to the failure of the noninvasive detector assumption, and may be interpreted as either intrinsic detector backaction, or the qubit entangling the microscopic detector excitations. The results are discussed in terms of a quantum point contact kicked by a pulse generator, measuring a double quantum dot.  相似文献

An implementation of weak values is investigated in solid-state qubits. We demonstrate that a weak value can be nonclassical if and only if a Leggett-Garg inequality can also be violated. Generalized weak values are described in which post-selection occurs on a range of weak measurement results. Imposing classical weak values permits the derivation of Leggett-Garg inequalities for bounded operators. Our analysis is presented in terms of kicked quantum nondemolition measurements on a quantum double-dot charge qubit.  相似文献
