Elastic scattering cross-sections for Pt, Au and Pb were measured using nearly monoenergetic unpolarized Kα x-ray photons in the energy range 8.63⩽E⩽42.75 keV at an angle of 90°. The experimental results were compared with theoretical elastic scattering cross-sections calculated using relativistic form factors (RFFs), relativistic modified form factors (RMFs), a combination of RFFs, RMFs with angle-independent anomalous scattering factors (ASFs) and relativistic numerical calculations based on the multipole expansion of the second-order S-matrix approach. The experimental results were in reasonable agreement with the S-matrix values and values based on an RMF+ASF approach compared with an RFF+ASF approach. © 1988 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The results of a partial-wave analysis of data on proton-proton interaction in the energy range 100–1300 MeV are presented. The real parts of phase shifts were found for states of orbital angular momentum up to L = 9, while their imaginary parts were determined for states of orbital angular momentum up to L = 5. The sixth parameter of the S matrix was introduced in order to describe states of total angular momentum J = 2 and 4. The inelasticity thresholds were chosen individually for each state and were found to be substantially different from one another. The resulting solution was characterized by χ 2 = 1.155 per point in the case where the number of experimental data was 12 841 and by a large imaginary part of the phase shift in the 3 P 2-wave state at the edge of the energy range. Special features of the interaction in orbital states are discussed along with the energy dependence of integrated amplitudes and amplitudes of the scattering matrix at zero angle.  相似文献

A setup installed on the RADEX neutron beam channel (Institute for Nuclear Research, Russian Academy of Sciences) and designed to study quasi-free nn scattering in the n + d → p + n + n reaction is described. The setup is a two-arm time-of-flight spectrometer composed of scintillation neutron hodoscope (in the left arm), a scintillation neutron detector (in the right arm), and an active scintillation deuterated target for detecting protons. Secondary neutrons are detected at angles corresponding to the kinematic conditions of quasi-free nn scattering. Events are selected at low energies of the outgoing proton spectator. It is shown that data on neutron-neutron quasi-free scattering can be obtained in a wide range of primary-neutron energies.  相似文献

Data for the elastic scattering of 30–80 MeV positive and negative pions by a wide range of nuclei is analysed with an Ericson-Ericson MSU type optical potential. By use of consistent sets of data for π+ and π and of experimental results for total reaction cross sections we obtain for the first time optical potentials that describe well all the data without the need of introducing non-standard charge-dependent effects.  相似文献

By means of the reference method, the cross sections for the fission of the 241Am, 242m Am, and 243Am isotopes were measured at the microtron of the Institute of Physics and Power Engineering (Obninsk). These measurements, which employed the cross section for 238U photofission as a reference, covered the energy range 6–12 MeV scanned with a variable step of 50 to 200 keV. Data on 242m Am photofission in the energy range 6–12 MeV and 243Am photofission in the region between 6 and 7 MeV were obtained for the first time. New results for 241Am reveal that the cross sections for 241Am photofission from previous studies of the present author were exaggerated. The new results for this isotope comply well with data of other authors. It is not confirmed that the fissility of 241Am is less than the fissility of 243Am. The energy dependences of the fissilities of the americium isotopes from photofission data are compared with those that were obtained for these fissilities from data on direct reactions like 240Pu(3He, df)241Am. The results of this comparison show that the observed fission thresholds and the plateaulike dependences at energies above 7.5 MeV from the two types of studies comply well. The present data show evidence that, in the energy region around 6 MeV, the photofission cross section has a maximum, which is associated, in all probability, with the low-energy resonance structure in the cross section for dipole photoabsorption.  相似文献

The energy dependence of an optical potential which reasonably fits all of the existing experimental data on 16O + 28Si elastic scattering in the energy range of E = 54.7–215.2 MeV is studied. The real part of the potential found for this system shows a transition from a proximity to a double-folding type of the potential as a result of quenching of the Pauli principle effects with an increase of the incident energy. The imaginary part shows a transition from a surface-transparent to a strongly absorptive type of the potential.  相似文献

Cross sections for stripping and dissociation of deuterons interacting with Be targets in the 100–2300 MeV energy range have been measured. Comparisons with model calculations suggest a dominant contribution of the stripping process. It is also shown that the deuteron break-up cross section exhibits the same energy dependence as the nucleon-nucleon cross section. New results of the neutron-induced fission experiments carried out at the neutron time-of-flight spectrometer GNEIS of the PNPI are given. Angular distributions of fission fragments from the neutron-induced fission of 233U and 209Bi nuclei have been measured in the energy range 1–200 MeV using position sensitive multiwire proportional counters as fission fragment detector. The recent improvements of the measurement and data processing procedures are described. The data on anisotropy of fission fragments deduced from the measured angular distributions are presented in comparison with the experimental data of other authors.  相似文献

The total photoabsorption cross section on a free proton was measured at the GRAAL facility in the energy range E γ = 600−1500 MeV. The large-aperture LAGRANγE detector and a liquid hydrogen target were used in the experiment performed with a back-scattered Compton gamma beam. To improve the accuracy, two alternative methods were employed. First, a subtraction method of using empty-target measurements allowed the cross section σ tot to be evaluated directly because of a low level of the electromagnetic background. Second, an algorithm for evaluating σ tot on the basis of summing the dominating partial cross sections was developed. Experimental results obtained for σ tot by the two methods are compared with existing data. The article was translated by the authors. The cluster-reduction method is used to solve the differential Faddeev equations for S=1/2, T=0 and S=3/2, T=0 spin-isospin states of the Λnp system in the s-wave approximation. The NN interaction is simulated on the basis of the MT I–III potential model, and the ΛN potential is set to V ΛN =V NN /2. This simple option makes it possible to reproduce faithfully the binding energy of the hypertriton Λ 3 H. The doublet and quadruplet Λd scattering lengths and the low-energy phase shifts are calculated. It is shown that the effective-range approximation is applicable to the cases of doublet and quadruplet scattering.  相似文献

The cross sections for the photofission of plutonium isotopes 238Pu, 240Pu, and 242Pu in the energy range 5–10 MeV have been measured by using a beam of bremsstrahlung photons from the microtron installed at the Institute of Physics and Power Engineering (Obninsk). The energy regions below the fission barrier and above 6 MeV have been scanned with pitches of 0.05 and 0.1 MeV, respectively. In deriving the absolute cross section for 238Pu photofission, 238U photofission has been employed as a reference reaction. In measurements involving 240Pu and 242Pu nuclei, the neptunium isotope 237Np, which is characterized by a more regular dependence of the photofission cross section on excitation energy than 238U, has been chosen for the first time as a reference nucleus. The measured cross sections as functions of energy show resonance structures in the vicinity of the fission threshold that are consistent with those previously observed in the energy dependences of fissilities for corresponding direct reactions. The partial-wave cross sections for the J π K = 1?0, 1?1, and 2+0 photofission channels have been determined as functions of energy. At energies below some 5.5 MeV, the total cross section for photofission of each plutonium isotope being studied receives a significant contribution from quadrupole interaction. Within the one-dimensional model of a two-humped fission barrier, the parameters of the barriers for 238Pu, 240Pu, and 242Pu have been extracted from data and have then been compared with estimates based on previous measurements.  相似文献

Experimental data of the GRAAL Collaboration on the total cross sections for photoabsorption on deuterium and carbon targets at gamma-ray energies in the range between 600 and 1500 MeV are presented. The experiment was performed in a beam of photons obtained by the method of the Compton backscattering of laser photons at the electron storage ring of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF, Grenoble, France) by using a wide-aperture detector covering a solid angle close to 4π. The total photoabsorption cross sections were determined by two independent methods: by subtracting the emptytarget background and by summing partial cross sections for meson photoproduction. The total cross sections for photoabsorption on quasifree protons and neutrons are shown to agree both in magnitude and in shape within a 5% precision of the measurements. In contrast to data previously available in the literature, both cross sections show distinctly the F 15(1680) resonance at a photon energy of about 1 GeV. Data obtained in the present experiment for the cross sections for photoabsorption on a free and a bound nucleon are compared. This comparison reveals a substantial role of two-nucleon correlations in estimating the nuclear-medium effect on meson photoproduction.  相似文献

The differential cross-section for the reaction γp↦π + n was measured using the bremsstrahlung beam of the Bonn 2.5 GeV electron synchrotron. The pions were detected and momentum analysed in a multichannel magnet spectrometer. Data reduction resulted in 1278 measured cross-sections which are presented as energy distributions at six laboratory angles between 180° and 95°. The range of laboratory photon energies extended from 0.3 to 2.1 GeV. The statistical accuracy is better than 3 percent, the systematic error is about 5 percent. The data are compared with other experimental results and predictions of a phenomenological analysis. These cross-sections are the result of a measurement program which was started in the seventies. We investigate the differential cross sections (DCS) of elastic electron scattering from CH4, CF4 and SF6 at six impact energies in a range of 100 700eV by employing the independent atom model (IAM) together with the relativistic partial waves. The atom is present in an optical potential which is complex, spherically symmetric, and energy dependent. The optical potential of the atom is the sum of the direct static, dynamic polarization, local exchange and modified absorption potentials. The results obtained by using a modified absorption potential show significant improvements on the unmodified absorption potential results. The present results are generally in good agreement with experimental data available. In addition, the present results indicate that the structure of molecule manifests the observable effects on electron- molecule scattering.[第一段]  相似文献

The method of rescaling from the muon-multiplicity spectrum to the extensive-air-shower spectrum as a function of the total muon number n μ is presented. The method allows a direct comparison of data obtained in different experiments with muon groups. A direct comparison of data at n μ>1800 and n μ=76–660 has been performed. The data in the region n μ=75–3500 agree better with the assumption that the slope change in the energy spectrum of primary cosmic rays occurs approximately at the same energy per nucleus, E c=3×1015 eV, and the mass composition in the energy range 1015–1017 eV is close to that observed at 1014 eV.  相似文献

Neutron fold distributions measured for the reaction 209Bi(α,α′) at 240 MeV have been analyzed with the help of Statistical Model calculations to determine the distribution of excitation energy, Ex, in the primary target fragments as a function of the projectile energy loss, EL. The reconstructed distributions in excitation energy feature a plateau which extends from the kinematical limit Ex = EL to very small excitations, indicating a variety of interactions of the beam particles with the target nucleus. The requirement of an additional coincidence with a light charged particle leads to the selection of a significant higher average excitation energy. Those results are extrapolated to explore the effects of including the excitation energy distributions in the analysis of previous GDR measurements in 208Pb. Corrections of the derived GDR parameters due to the partial transfer of excitation energy are suggested.  相似文献
