Very recently, it has been shown that there are chiralN-state Potts models in statistical mechanics that satisfy the star-triangle relation. Here it is shown that the relation implies that the free energy (and its derivatives) satisfies certain functional relations. These can be used to obtain the free energy: in particular, we expand about the critical case and find that the exponent is 1–2/N. 相似文献

We calculate the interfacial tension of theN-state chiral Potts model by solving the functional relations for the transfer matrices of the model with skewed boundary conditions. Our result is valid for the general physical model (with positive Boltzmann weights) and at all subcritical temperatures. The interfacial tension has been calculated previously for the superintegrable chiral Potts model with skewed boundary conditions. UsingZ-invariance, Baxter has argued that the interfacial tension of this model should be the same as the interfacial tension of the general physical model. We show that this is indeed the case. 相似文献

We study the perturbation theory for the general nonintegrable chiral Potts model depending on two chiral angles and a strength parameter and show how the analyticity of the ground-state energy and correlation functions dramatically increases when the angles and the strength parameter satisfy the integrability condition. We present some symmetry and factorization relations satisfied by the corner transfer matrices (CTMs) of the chiral Potts model. We show how the single-spin expectation values can be expressed in terms of the CTMs, and in terms of the related boost operator. Low-temperature calculations lead naturally to the variables that uniformize the Boltzmann weights of the model. 相似文献

The spectrum of low lying excitations of the integrable chiral Potts model is computed. It is shown that there is a region in the parameter space where the excitation energies become negative thus indicating that a level crossing transition to a new incommensurate ground state has occurred. 相似文献

We propose a mean-field free energy approach to simulate multi- component fluids. The model has been validated in terms of
the Laplace equation of capillarity and dispersion relation of interfacial waves. Simulations of a ternary system shows that
the total free energy decreases and reaches a minimum after phase separation has occurred. Different drop shapes can be obtained
by adjusting the interaction strengths between individual components. These results demonstrate that both macroscopic free

New integrable B_2 model with off-diagonal boundary reflections is proposed. The general solutions of the reflection matrix for the B_2 model are obtained by using the fusion technique. Wefind that the reflection matrix has 7 free boundary parameters, which are used to describe the degree of freedom of boundary couplings, without breaking the integrability of the system. The new quantization conditions will induce the novel structure of the energy spectrum and the boundary states. The corresponding boundary effects can be studied based on the results in this paper. Meanwhile, the reflection matrix of high rank models associated with Bnalgebra can also be obtained by using the method suggested in this paper. 相似文献

The massive high-temperature phase of the chiral Potts quantum chain is studied using perturbative methods. For the 3-chain we present high-temperature expansions for the ground-state energy and the dispersion relations of the two single-particle states as well as two-particle states at general values of the parameters. We also present a perturbative argument showing that a large class of massive n-spin quantum chains have quasiparticle spectra withn-1 fundamental particles. It is known from earlier investigations that—at special values of the parameters—some of the fundamental particles exist only for limited ranges of the momentum. In these regimes our argument is not rigorous, as one can conclude from a discussion of the radius of convergence of the perturbation series. We also derive correlation functions from a perturbative evaluation of the ground-state for the 3-chain. In addition to an exponential decay we observe an oscillating contribution. The oscillation length seems to be related to the asymmetry of the dispersion relations. We show that this relation is exact at special values of the parameters for general n using a form factor expansion. 相似文献

For the ferromagnetic scalar q-state Potts model on a d-dimensional cubic lattice we prove the following results: (1) We derive a correlation inequality and then we prove that the surface tension between two ordered phases exists in dimension d ⩾ 2 whenever q ⩾ 2 and it is discontinuous at the transition point whenever q is large enough. We consider a two-dimensional edge-interaction model satisfying the star-triangle relations. For the triangular lattice, the corner transfer matrices are functions of three rapidities: we show that they possess various factorization properties and satisfy certain equations. We indicate how these equations can be solved for the Ising model. We then consider the three-state chiral Potts model and obtain low-temperature solutions to the equations. The conjectured formula for the order parameter (the spontaneous magnetization) is verified to one more order in a series expansion. 相似文献

The Kasteleyn-Fortuin formulation of bond percolation as a lattice statistical model is rederived using an alternate approach. It is shown that the quantities of interest arising in the percolation problem, including the critical exponents, can be obtained from the solution of the Potts model.
