Muon spin relaxation in solid3He depends non-monotonously on the temperature. It is shown that this is entirely due to the magnetic dipole-dipole interactions. The observed line narrowing cannot be explained by the mechanism of positive charge hopping described by an Arrhenius-like law. The relaxation rate at low temperatures was found to increase under the influence of an external electric field.  相似文献

It is suggested that a coherently precessing spin structure in a normal Fermi liquid should be used to study the interface of two Fermi liquids. It is shown that the interface makes an additional contribution to the attenuation of the precessing structure. This contribution is determined by the kinetic coefficient which relates the magnetization flux across the interface to the magnetization jump at the interface. A relationship is established between this kinetic coefficient and the nature of the scattering of Fermi quasiparticles at the interface. Results of numerical calculations of the attenuation of the structure are presented for a specific object, a separated solution of 3He in 4He.  相似文献

Pulsed NMR experiments in saturated liquid 3He---4He solution were done at temperatures down to 1 mK. The results are well described by a formation of a coherently precessing two-domain structure. In one of these domains the magnetization is oriented along the external magnetic field and in the other domain it is oriented opposite to the field. This structure arises due to spin currents, which are caused by Fermi liquid interaction.  相似文献

We study an algebra of Poisson brackets of the Hamiltonian system defined by the nonlinear Leggett equations of spin dynamics in the A- and the B-phases of superfluid 3He. For the A-phase the Poisson algebra results in a special case of the equations of motion of a rigid body in ideal fluid; for the B-phase, in the absence of magnetic field, it allows for a reduction to a smaller Poisson algebra that provides exact solutions for the Leggett equations.  相似文献

Direct demagnetization has been made for two-dimensional solid 3He in both the paramagnetic and the antiferromagnetic phases. The lowest temperature is about 10 microK, judging from the observed magnetization for the paramagnetic solid 3He. The magnetization of the antiferromagnetic solid 3He shows a gradual increase to about 10 microK for the 4/7 phase adsorbed on both one layer of 4He and two layers of HD preplated graphite. This strongly suggests that the triangular antiferromagnet with the higher order multiple exchange has a quantum spin liquid ground state with nearly zero or extremely small spin gap less than 10 microK.  相似文献

We present experimental results of the first high-precision test of quark-hadron duality in the spin-structure function g_{1} of the neutron and 3He using a polarized 3He target in the four-momentum-transfer-squared range from 0.7 to 4.0 (GeV/c);{2}. Global duality is observed for the spin-structure function g_{1} down to at least Q;{2}=1.8 (GeV/c);{2} in both targets. We have also formed the photon-nucleon asymmetry A1 in the resonance region for 3He and found no strong Q2 dependence above 2.2 (GeV/c);{2}.  相似文献

As is obvious from the energetic point of view, positive muons must form the molecular ion ( He_2μ)+ in condensed phases of helium. A theory of positive muon spin depolarization in crystalline phase of 3He in this model is devised. The theory explains experimental results. It is shown that the abrupt temperature dependence of the muon spin depolarization rate at T < 2 K which is observed in experiments is explained by spin–phonon interaction. This interaction mechanism arises due to a modulation of the exchange interaction between host atoms of the 3He‐lattice. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

We have measured the ultralow temperature and low field magnetic susceptibility of the 4/7 phase of two-dimensional 3He adsorbed on graphite preplated by one layer of 4He. The experiments are performed by progressively adding 4He to the system, thus suppressing in a controlled way the 3He atoms trapped in substrate heterogeneities. This procedure enables us to determine the intrinsic properties of this spin 1/2 model magnet in the zero field limit. The results show quantitatively that the system is strongly frustrated by multiple spin exchange interactions. A characteristic gapped spin liquid behavior is observed at ultralow temperature.  相似文献

In the first in a series of three papers on wall relaxation of spin polarized 3He we have reported on a breakdown of relaxation times which is observed after exposing the 3He containing glass cells to a strong magnetizing field. In this third paper we give a quantitative analysis of this phenomenon, based on magnetic signal detection by means of SQUIDs, on the pressure dependence of relaxation times in magnetized cells, as well as on Monte Carlo simulations of 3He-relaxation in a macroscopic dipole field. Our analysis allows to identify the contaminants as being aggregates of dust-like Fe3O4 particles (magnetite) with a radius R ? 10 mR \approx 10~\mu m and a remanent magnetic moment of the order of m ≈O(10 -10 ^{-10}~ A m2). The particles are located at or close to the inner glass surface.  相似文献

It was found that two different spin states of the A-like phase can be obtained in an aerogel sample. In one of these states, we have observed the signal of the longitudinal NMR, while, in the other state, no trace of such a signal was found. The states also have different properties in transverse NMR experiments. A longitudinal NMR signal was also observed in the B-like phase of 3He in aerogel. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

The presence of biquadratic exchange in a one-dimensional ferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with an impurity spin is shown to change the nature of the impurity modes and its eigenvalues considerably which can be observed experimentally.  相似文献

In this first in a series of three papers on wall relaxation of spin polarized, gaseous 3He we investigate both by theory and by experiment surface-induced spin relaxation due to paramagnetic sites in the containing glass. We present experimental and theoretical evidence that — contrary to the traditional opinion — distant dipolar coupling to paramagnetic impurities in the glass, in particular iron ions, cannot be the dominant relaxation mechanism of 3He-spins, although iron dominates the bulk static permeability. Instead dangling-bond type defects in the glass matrix are found to interact much stronger via the isotropic Fermi contact interaction. A model of paramagnetic site controlled 3He relaxation including the Fermi contact interaction is presented. With reasonable semi-empirical assumptions our model allows to describe satisfactorily the measured relaxivities, both in the dissolution-dominated regime of fused silica or borosilicate glasses of the Pyrex type as well as in the surface dominated situation of aluminosilicate glasses which have only a low permeability for He atoms. In a large sample of 1.1 litre cells, built from various aluminosilicate glasses, an average relaxation time of 150 h is reached in case contaminant ferromagnetic particles have been demagnetized beforehand. From the maximum observed value of 250 h we derive after subtraction of dipolar relaxation in the gas phase a paramagnetic surface relaxivity of ρ<0.005 cm/h at room temperature.  相似文献

In this second in a series of three papers on wall relaxation of 3He-spins we discuss relaxation in metal-coated glass cells in terms of hyperfine coupling to paramagnetic conduction electrons at the Fermi surface. This scales with the square of the work function of the coating and thereby also with its He-adsorption energy. In this sense we investigate coatings with particularly low work function and adsorption energy, namely Cs and Cs-suboxides. Although we observe a suppression of relaxation rates by two orders of magnitude as compared to bare Pyrex and fused silica walls, their temperature dependence still shows the same Arrhenius dependence as observed for bare substrates, instead of a T 3/2 dependence expected for a metallic surface. From this finding we conclude that, on one hand, the surface coverage is not complete and, on the other hand, the relaxation at the alkali surface itself is extremely slow. This finding is supported, too, by a semi-empirical estimate based on measured relaxation rates at ordinary metal surfaces, rescaled then with the respective dependence on adsorption energy.  相似文献

We report direct electrical detection of spin pumping, using a lateral normal-metal/ferromagnet/normal-metal device, where a single ferromagnet in ferromagnetic resonance pumps spin-polarized electrons into the normal metal, resulting in spin accumulation. The resulting backflow of spin current into the ferromagnet generates a dc voltage due to the spin-dependent conductivities of the ferromagnet. By comparing different contact materials (Al and/or Pt), we find, in agreement with theory, that the spin-related properties of the normal metal dictate the magnitude of the dc voltage.  相似文献
