Modified TGS single crystals have been grown by doping with Cobalt (II) Phosphate in ferroelectric phase. The effects of different amounts of doping entities on the growth habit and PE hysteresis loop have been investigated. The experimental results show that while the spontaneous polarization Ps measured on variously doped crystals remains virtually unchanged, the coercive field values differ in dependence on the growth conditions and grown pyramidal features. The highest values of the coercive field Ec have been found to fall in the interval 800‐900 V/cm.  相似文献

Single crystals of pure and lithium substituted L‐alanine are successfully grown by slow evaporation method at constant temperature of 32°C. The effect of lithium dopant on crystal properties has been studied. Powder and single crystal XRD analysis confirms the structure and change in lattice parameter values for the doped crystals. The crystals were characterized by solubility studies, density, melting point measurements, FTIR and UV‐Vis‐NIR techniques. Thermal and mechanical stability of crystals were tested by TGA/DTA and micro hardness analysis. NLO activity of the crystals is found to be increased in the presence of lithium ions. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the crystals were studied as a function of frequency. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate (KDP) is an excellent inorganic nonlinear optical (NLO) material with different device applications. Most of amino acids possess NLO property; therefore, it is of interest to dope them in KDP crystals. In the present study, amino acid L‐alanine doped KDP crystals were grown by slow aqueous solvent evaporation technique. The doping of L‐alanine was confirmed by the paper chromatography, the CHN analysis and the FT‐IR spectroscopy. The powder XRD was carried out to assess the single phase nature of the samples. The effect of doping on thermal stability of the crystals was studied by TGA and the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of dehydration were evaluated. As the amount of doping increased the thermal stability of crystals decreased. However, the second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency and the UV‐Vis spectroscopy studies indicated that as the L‐alanine doping increased the SHG efficiency and optical transmission percentage increased. The dielectric behavior of the samples has been studied. The variation of dielectric constant, dielectric loss (tanδ), a.c.resistivity and a.c.conductivity with frequency of applied field in the range from 100 Hz to 100 kHz was studied. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss decreased with increase the value of frequency of applied field. The dielectric constant and the dielectric loss values of L‐alanine doped KDP crystals were lower than the pure KDP crystals. The results are discussed. (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The recently discovered crystal growth method called uniaxially solution‐crystallization method of Sankaranarayanan–Ramasamy (SR) is modified in some aspects and used for growth of triglycine sulphate (TGS) crystals. The modification leads to the simplicity, reduction of cost and avoided the temperature fluctuations. The 〈010〉 direction of TGS is very important and used for fabrication of infrared detectors. Using this method, the 〈001〉, 〈010〉 directional crystals of TGS were successfully grown in a glass crystallizer. The grown crystal was characterized by HRXRD, UV‐Visible and dielectric studies. The results prove the suitability of the modified SR method for oriented TGS crystal. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate (KDP) and ammonium dihydrogen orthophosphate (ADP) single crystals added with L‐arginine have been grown by the solution methods. DC and AC electrical measurements were carried out at various temperatures along both a‐ and c‐ directions. Results indicate an increase of the electrical parameters with the increase of temperature which can be attributed mainly to the increase of thermally generated hydrogen bond vacancies (L. defects). Also, the present study indicates that L‐arginine addition leads to reduction of electrical parameters of KDP and ADP single crystals which can be attributed mainly to the decrease of L‐defects due to creation of additional hydrogen bonds by the impurity in random directions. A nonlinear optical crystal of L‐lysine monohydrochloride dihydrate (L‐LMHCl) was grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique using deionised water and mixed solvents of deionised water and ethanol. The functional groups and vibrational frequencies were identified using FTIR and FT‐RAMAN spectra analyses. Also, the presence of hydrogen and carbon atoms in the grown sample was confirmed using proton and carbon NMR spectra analyses. Using TG‐DTA analyses, the decomposition temperature was obtained. Transmittance of the grown crystals was analysed using UV‐visible spectrum. The mechanical strength of the grown crystals was found using Vicker's microhardness tester. The growth kinetics and mechanisms on the (001) and (100) faces of TGS crystals were investigated. A phase contrast microscope with a CCD camera was used to observe the growth of the crystal. We found the growth on the (001) and (100) faces at high supersaturation was mainly controlled by a BCF surface diffusion mechanism. The kinetic data for the (100) face were also fitted by the nucleation and layer growth model of two-dimension nucleation at high supersaturation. Some important growth parameters for TGS crystals, such as edge energy, activation energy, and so on, were estimated.  相似文献

Forsterite monocrystals doped with Ti and Ni were grown by the flux growth technique. A suitable mixture of flux (MoO3, V2O5, Li2CO3) and nutrient was slowly cooled down to 750 °C from 1250 °C or 1350 °C. The crystals were then characterized by powder and single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Variations observed in crystal size were attributed by both the varying experimental conditions in which they had been obtained, and to the amount of Ni substituted for Mg in the structure. High abundances of doped forsterite required a cooling rate of 1.8 K h‐1. These synthetic, well‐characterized Ti and Ni doped forsterite crystals may have potential for exploitation in industrial fields. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

L(+)Glutamic acid hydrochloride [HOOC (CH2)2CH(NH2) COOH·HCl], a monoamino dicarboxylic acid salt of L‐Glutamic acid was synthesized and the synthesis was confirmed by FTIR analysis. Solubility of the material in water was determined. Pure and Thiourea doped L‐Glutamic acid hydrochloride crystals were grown by low temperature solution growth using solvent evaporation technique. XRD, UV‐Vis‐NIR analyses were carried out for both pure and thiourea doped crystals. The crystals were qualitatively analyzed by EDAX analysis and the presence of thiourea was confirmed. The cell parameters of L‐Glutamic acid hydrochloride have been determined as a = 5.151 Å, b = 11.79 Å, c = 13.35 Å by X‐ray diffraction analysis and it crystallizes in orthorhombic space group P212121. UV‐Vis‐NIR spectra analysis showed good optical transmission in the entire visible region for both pure and doped crystals. Micro hardness of both pure and doped crystals has been determined using Vickers micro hardness tester. The SHG efficiencies of both pure and doped crystals were determined using Kurtz powder test and pure L‐Glutamic acid hydrochloride crystal was found to possess better efficiency than thiourea doped L‐Glutamic acid hydrochloride crystals. Single crystals of L‐alanine have been grown from buffered aqueous solutions and characterised as to their optical quality via wavefront distortion analysis, electrooptical response and harmonic generation efficiency. Refraction indices as well as phase matching loci were found in satisfactory agreement with previously published data for crystals grown in non buffered solution. Estimates for the electro‐optical response are reported for the first time. The experimentally observed crystal habit is discussed in terms of morphological importance (M.I.), which was found to be in disagreement with the predictions of crystallographic criteria based on the interplanar distance dhkl, on the periodic bond chains (PBC) and the attachment energy Eatt. This disagreement is tentatively attributed to the presence of impurities and non‐appropriate supersaturation conditions.  相似文献

The crystal was characterized by X‐ray diffractometry (XRD), Fourier Transform Infra‐red (FTIR), UV‐Vis‐NIR, TGA, DTA, microhardness and solubility studies. The SHG efficiency is found to be higher than that of KDP crystal. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the crystal was studied as function of frequency and the results are discussed. Tri Glycinsulphate with partial substitution of phosphoric acid, namely Tri Glycine Sulpho Phosphate (TGSP) has been grown by slow cooling method. Habit modifications have been observed with change in the concentration of ortho phosphoric acid (H3PO4). Monoclinic structure of the grown crystals has been confirmed using X‐ray diffraction analysis. TGSP crystals doped with L – Asparagine were also grown. The doping effect is qualitatively estimated using FTIR analysis. TGA, DTA studies and dielectric measurements were carried out for pure and L‐Asparagine doped TGSP crystals to investigate the thermal and electrical properties of the crystals. Bi12TiO20 (BTO) single crystals doped with PbO and CeO2 were grown by the Top Seeded Solution Growth (TSSG) technique from the liquid phase with nominal compositions of 10Bi2O3 : (1–x)TiO2 : x PbO and 10Bi2O3 : (1–x)TiO2 : xCeO2 with x = 0.25 and 0.10. No growth‐related difficulties were encountered other than those typical of sillenite crystals. Samples with good optical quality were obtained and were characterized by optical absorption, dark current, spectral photocurrent dependence, optical activity and electro‐optic coefficient measurements. A comparison is made of the results of the optical measurements of doped and undoped BTO crystals. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Single crystals of L‐ascorbic acid, popularly known as vitamin‐C, were grown from solutions with different solvents and solvent combinations by low temperature solution growth methods. The suitability of different solvents and solvent combinations such as acetone, ethanol, methanol, isopropyl alcohol, water, water + acetone (1:1), water + ethanol (3:1), water + isopropyl alcohol (3:1) and isopropyl alcohol + methanol (1:1) for crystal growth of L‐ascorbic acid was found out by assessing the solubility and crystallization behaviours. Solubility of L‐ascorbic acid in selected solvents and solvent combinations in a range of temperatures was determined by gravimetric method. Solution prepared with water, water + acetone (1:1), water + ethanol (3:1) and water + isopropyl alcohol (3:1) were yielded crystals with tabular, columnar and prismatic habits and their morphologies were evaluated by goniometry. Grown single crystals were characterized with various instrumental techniques such as powder X‐ray diffraction, Fourier infrared spectroscopy, optical transmittance study, differential scanning calorimetry and second harmonic generation studies. Single crystals of L‐histidine tetrafluoroborate (C6H10N3O2BF4 , L‐HFB) were grown by solution growth method using two different temperature profiles: conventional, in which the growth temperature was kept constant at 30°C and rapid, in which it was increased in steps of 1 K per day while keeping the other growth conditions same. Crystals grew in nearly 30 and 10 days in the two methods, respectively. The crystals were transparent and showing its characteristic morphology. Both types of crystals were characterized by XRD for their structural comparison. Surface morphology and growth features of the crystals were studied by SEM. Features of two dimensional layer growth steps, rectangular etch pits, slip lines and bands, etc. were observed. The presence of various functional groups and their bonding were studied by FTIR in the range 4000‐400 cm‐1. Thermal stability of the crystals was determined by thermo‐gravimetric and differential thermal analysis. The generation of green light due to second harmonic generation for fundamental λ =1064 nm has been confirmed in both cases. Dielectric constant measurement was carried out in the range 20Hz‐2MHz. In the UV‐Vis studies, high transmittance and a shorter ‘lower cut off' value (232 nm) were observed. The effect of rapid growth on the structural, morphological and optical properties of the crystals were studied and compared to those of crystals grown in conventional way. Struvite‐K is the natural potassium equivalent to Struvite. Struvite‐K crystals were grown by single diffusion gel growth technique in silica hydro gel medium. Struvite‐K crystals with different morphologies having transparent to translucent diaphaneity were grown with different growth parameters. The phenomenon of Liesegang rings was also observed with some particular growth parameters. The crystals were characterized by powder XRD, FT‐IR, TGA and dielectric study. The powder XRD results of Struvite‐K confirmed the orthorhombic crystal structure. The FT‐IR spectrum proved the presence of water of hydration, metal – oxygen bond and P – O bond. The TGA, DSC and DTA were carried out simultaneously. It was found that crystals started dehydrating and decomposing from 75 °C and finally at 600 °C temperature it became 64.14% of the original weight and remained almost constant up to the end of analysis. From the thermo‐gravimetry, the numbers of the water molecules associated with the crystal were calculated and found to be 5. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of dehydration / decomposition process were calculated. The variation of dielectric constant with frequency of applied field was studied in the range from 400 Hz to 100 kHz, which exhibited the decreasing nature of the dielectric constant as frequency increased. The dielectric study showed that a.c. conductivity increased and consequently the a.c. resistivity decreased with the increase in frequency. (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. A potentially useful semiorganic nonlinear optical (NLO) material, L‐arginine perchlorate, has been synthesized and bulk crystals have been grown by slow cooling technique. The grown crystals were characterized by single crystal X‐ray diffraction, UV‐Vis‐NIR spectroscopy, FT‐IR, thermal analysis and SHG measurements. The grown crystals were thermally stable upto 153°C and exhibit SHG efficiency of about 0.17 with respect of Urea. The etching studies have been carried out on the grown crystal. LAPC has good optical transmission not only in the visible range, however, also in the near UV part of the spectra and hence it is a potential material for nonlinear frequency conversion. The refractive index was measured by the Brewster's angle method. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Pure and Co‐doped Li2B4O7 (LBO) single crystals were grown by the Czochralski method. Starting concentrations of Co2O3 in the melt were: 0.5, 0.85 and 1 mol% relative to Li2CO3. Technological factors affecting the quality of both crystals were discussed. Optical absorption and EPR spectra were analyzed to define the oxidation states and lattice sites of cobalt ions. It was shown that Co2+ ions enter LBO crystal at octahedral Li+ site positions. Low‐temperature EPR measurements revealed that two types of Co2+ complexes can be distinguished in the Li2B4O7:Co crystals. Additional absorption calculated for γ‐irradiated crystals showed Vk type defects suggesting the creation of cation vacancies during growth. The concentration of the defects decreases with an increase of intentional Co concentration. Introduction of cobalt ions to LBO crystal is limited probably by the formation of cobalt ion pairs or by the entrance of cobalt as Co+. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献
