The PM3 and AM1 semiempirical computations were performed in order to explain the stereochemistry of the addition of the chiral α-methylbenzylammonium hypophosphite to an aldehyde, which is stereoselective to 100%. An iterative strategy for the synthesis of new sulfur-functionalized oligothiophenes by Suzuki or Stille cross-coupling reactions was applied to the reaction of 4-bromo-tert-butylphenylthioether with thiophene derivatives. Reactions of Si- and Ge-substituted alkynes with KICl2 were investigated.
