Recent attempts at consumer participation in the health care planning process have proved weak in their ability to responsively account for consumer health welfare. This can be attributed, in large part, to the mechanisms employed for identifying and utilizing the consumer's health care views and preferences. A heuristic planning procedure designed to overcome these problems by directly incorporating consumer preferences is developed. It identifies that (primary) health care delivery system which maximizes total incremental health benefit to a community subject to a prespecified budget constraint. The model assumes a methodology (previously developed by the author) for measuring, in aggregable units, the benefit, Bip, from some health care facility p as perceived by some consumer i. Application of the procedure and subsequent sensitivity analyses demonstrate its ability to generate valid solutions that are robust to disturbances in the planning system.  相似文献

A bounded linear operator T on a complex Hilbert space is called homogeneous if the spectrum of T is contained in the closed unit disc and all bi-holomorphic automorphisms of this disc lift to automorphisms of the operator modulo unitary equivalence. We prove that all the irreducible homogeneous operators are block shifts. Therefore, as a first step in classifying all of them, it is natural to begin with the homogeneous scalar shifts.In this paper we determine all the homogeneous (scalar) weighted shifts. They consist of the unweighted bilateral shift, two one-parameter families of unilateral shifts (adjoints of each other), a one-parameter family of bilateral shifts and a two-parameter family of bilateral shifts. This classification is obtained by a careful analysis of the possibilities for the projective representation of the Möbius group associated with an irreducible homogeneous shift.  相似文献

We consider the three-dimensional inverse scattering with fixed energy in the spherically symmetrical case. We give a characterization of the sequences of phase shifts for two potentials which can be different only in a ball of radius a. In other words we study how the large distance interaction influences the asymptotical behavior of the phase shifts. We also characterize the tail of the potential by the growth order of the scattering amplitude F(t) for large t.  相似文献

A Borel system consists of a measurable automorphism of a standard Borel space. We consider Borel embeddings and isomorphisms between such systems modulo null sets, i.e. sets which have measure zero for every invariant probability measure. For every t>0 we show that in this category, up to isomorphism, there exists a unique free Borel system (Y,S) which is strictly t-universal in the sense that all invariant measures on Y have entropy <t, and if (X,T) is another free system obeying the same entropy condition then X embeds into Y off a null set. One gets a strictly t-universal system from mixing shifts of finite type of entropy ≥t by removing the periodic points and “restricting” to the part of the system of entropy <t. As a consequence, after removing their periodic points the systems in the following classes are completely classified by entropy up to Borel isomorphism off null sets: mixing shifts of finite type, mixing positive-recurrent countable state Markov chains, mixing sofic shifts, beta shifts, synchronized subshifts, and axiom-A diffeomorphisms. In particular any two equal-entropy systems from these classes are entropy conjugate in the sense of Buzzi, answering a question of Boyle, Buzzi and Gomez.  相似文献

The Selberg class S consists of functions L(s) that are defined by Dirichlet series and satisfy four axioms (Ramanujan conjecture, analytic continuation, functional equation, and Euler product). It has been known that functions in S that satisfy the mean value condition on primes are universal in the sense of Voronin, i.e., every function in a sufficiently wide class of analytic functions can be approximated by the shifts L(s + ), τ ∈ R. In this paper we show that every function in the same class of analytic functions can be approximated by the discrete shifts L(s + ikh), k = 0, 1,..., where h > 0 is an arbitrary fixed number.  相似文献

The system of shifts of Dirichlet kernel on \(\frac{{2k\pi }} {{2n + 1}} \) , k = 0, ± 1, …, ± n, and the system of such shifts of conjugate Dirichlet kernels with \(\frac{1} {2} \) are orthogonal bases in the space of trigonometric polynomials of degree n. The system of shifts of the kernels \(\Sigma _{k = m}^n \) cos kx and \(\Sigma _{k = m}^n \) sin kx on \(\frac{{2k\pi }} {{n - m + 1}} \) , k = 0, 1, …, n?m, is an orthogonal basis in the space of trigonometric polynomials with the components from m ? 1 to n. In 2007, H. Mishou obtained a joint universality theorem for the Riemann zetafunction ζ(s) and the Hurwitz zeta-function ζ(s, α) with transcendental parameter α. The theorem states that a pair of analytic functions can be simultaneously approximated by the shifts ζ(s + iτ ) and ζ(s + iτ, α), τ ∈ R. In 2015, E. Buivydas and the author established a version of this theorem in which the approximation is performed by the discrete shifts ζ(s + ikh) and ζ(s + ikh, α), h > 0, k = 0, 1, 2.... In the present study, we prove joint universality for the functions ζ(s) and ζ(s, α) in the sense of approximation of a pair of analytic functions by the shifts ζ(s + ik β h) and ζ(s + ik β h, α) with fixed 0 < β < 1.  相似文献

The quality of the health care is directly connected to the equity and to the efficiency of the service delivered. Usually, the health care is delivered by crews composed of individuals working together sharing knowledge, experiences and skills. We consider the problem of composing medical crews in such a way that the health care service provided follows the principles of equity and efficiency. We present a general mathematical programming model for this problem and a solution algorithm based on Tabu Search methodology. Wireless sensor networks represent a new generation of real-time traffic communications and high data rate sensor applications, such as structural health monitoring and control. We study some problems related to data gathering in sensor networks when the sensors collect the sensed data about their environment and this information should be delivered to a collecting central Base Station. We prove that scheduling messages through the network to minimize the maximal delivery time with restrictions on the total idle time allowed is NP-hard. We also refer to a special case of linear network topology for which we present two polynomial time optimization algorithms: One is for minimizing the maximal lateness and maximal delay, while the other is for minimizing the number of tardy messages.  相似文献

The present paper is concerned with orthorecursive expansions which are generalizations of orthogonal series to families of nonorthogonal wavelets, binary contractions and integer shifts of a given function φ. It is established that, under certain not too rigid constraints on the function φ, the expansion for any function fL 2(?) converges to f in L 2(?). Such an expansion method is stable with respect to errors in the calculation of the coefficients. The results admit a generalization to the n-dimensional case.  相似文献

By using simultaneous triangularization technique, similarity for operator weighted shifts with finite multiplicity is characterized in terms of K0-group of commutant algebra. The result supports the conjecture posed by Cao et al. in 1999. Moreover, we discuss the relations between similarity and quasi-similarity for operator weighted shifts.  相似文献

In this work we apply infinitesimal variational calculus to the systems of balance equations. We determine a class of the exterior n+(n+1)-forms Θ on the jet bundle of infinite order over a configurational bundle π:Yn+mXn similar to the class of Lepage n-forms. Systems of differential equations obtained in the way similar to one used in the Lagrangian field theory, include the Euler–Lagrange equations corresponding to a Lagrangian functions as well as arbitrary regular systems of balance equations. For a balance system with a symmetry group G we present the Noether balance laws corresponding to the generators of the Lie algebra of the group G.  相似文献

This contribution is about bridging the gap between professionals and managers in health care: clinicians on the one hand and managers on the other hand. The paper looks at the problems along the road ahead: those that confront the governmental authorities and those that confront the health care sector. It identifies the driving forces that confront the health care sector and shows in what direction they are pushing management. Three steps are indicated to bridge the gap between clinicians and managers: (1) New discussion forums; (2) patient information systems; (3) communication tools. Operational Research can and should contribute. However, some shifts in emphasis are necessary. Three propositions are put forward: (1). Operational Research should infiltrate the discussion forums on health care; (2) Operational Research should orient itself to the “operationalisation” of the thousands of basic concepts and indicators used in health care rather than to the formulation of models which take all these concepts and indicators for granted; (3) Operational Research can contribute by helping to master the voluminous data in sensible ways in order to arrive at information on health, health care and health care management… under any type of constraint, resource or otherwise. Let × be a Poisson point process of intensity λ on the real line. A thickening of it is a (deterministic) measurable function f such that Xf(X) is a Poisson point process of intensity λ′ where λ′ > λ. An equivariant thickening is a thickening which commutes with all shifts of the line. We show that a thickening exists but an equivariant thickening does not. We prove similar results for thickenings which commute only with integer shifts and in the discrete and multi-dimensional settings. This answers 3 questions of Holroyd, Lyons and Soo. We briefly consider also a much more general setup in which we ask for the existence of a deterministic coupling satisfying a relation between two probability measures. We present a conjectured sufficient condition for the existence of such couplings.  相似文献

The Takagi function τ(x) is a continuous non-differentiable function on the unit interval defined by Takagi in 1903. This paper studies level sets L(y) = {x : τ(x) = y} of the Takagi function and bounds their Minkowski dimensions and Hausdorff dimensions above by 0.668. There exist level sets with Minkowski dimension 1/2. The method of proof involves a multiscale analysis that relies upon the self-similarity of τ(x) up to affine shifts.  相似文献

In this paper we study the hyponormality and subnormality of 2-variable weighted shifts using the Schur product techniques in matrices. As applications, we generalize the result in [R. Curto, J. Yoon, Jointly hyponormal pairs of subnormal operators need not be jointly subnormal, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 358 (2006) 5135-5159, Theorem 5.2] and give a non-trivial, large class satisfying the Curto-Muhly-Xia conjecture [R. Curto, P. Muhly, J. Xia, Hyponormal pairs of commuting operators, Oper. Theory Adv. Appl. 35 (1988) 1-22] for 2-variable weighted shifts. Further, we give a complete characterization of hyponormality and subnormality in the class of flat, contractive, 2-variable weighted shifts T≡(T1,T2) with the condition that the norm of the 0th horizontal 1-variable weighted shift of T is a given constant.  相似文献

The quantum Fourier transform (QFT) is a powerful tool in quantum computing. The main ingredients of QFT are formed by the Walsh-Hadamard transform H and phase shifts P(·), both of which are 2×2 unitary matrices as operators on the two-dimensional 1-qubit space. In this paper, we show that H and P(·) suffice to generate the unitary group U(2) and, consequently, through controlled-U operations and their concatenations, the entire unitary group U(2n) on n qubits can be generated. Since any quantum computing algorithm in an n-qubit quantum computer is based on operations by matrices in U(2n), in this sense we have the universality of the QFT.  相似文献

This research is a continuation of a recent paper due to the first four authors. Shared value problems related to a meromorphic function f(z) and its shift f(z+c), where cC, are studied. It is shown, for instance, that if f(z) is of finite order and shares two values CM and one value IM with its shift f(z+c), then f is a periodic function with period c. The assumption on the order of f can be dropped if f shares two shifts in different directions, leading to a new way of characterizing elliptic functions. The research findings also include an analogue for shifts of a well-known conjecture by Brück concerning the value sharing of an entire function f with its derivative f.  相似文献
