Single crystals of zinc magnesium tetra thiocyanate [ZnMg(SCN)4], a bimetallic thiocyanate complex, were grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique at room temperature. The bright, transparent and colourless crystals have well defined faces. The grown crystals were characterized through elemental analysis, powder X‐ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA), differential scanning calorimetric analysis (DSC), Fourier Transform Infra red (FTIR) and Optical studies. The elemental analysis confirms the stoichiometry of the synthesized crystals. The compound crystallizes under monoclinic structure with lattice parameters a = 10.055 Å, b = 7.44 Å, c = 6.00 Å and β = 90.113°. The TGA indicates 25 % weight loss at 205°C from which the decomposition pattern is formulated. The DSC study indicates that the crystal undergoes only first order phase transitions. The FTIR spectrum indicates among others the presence of metal‐nitrogen and metal‐sulphur bonds thus confirming the formation of the complex. A new quadratic nonlinear optical crystal, 2‐amino‐3‐nitropyridinium trichloroacetate (2A3NPTCA), was synthesized and the single crystals were grown by slow evaporation method at room temperature. Single crystal X‐ray diffraction and powder X‐ray diffraction experiments were carried out in order to confirm the structure and crystalline nature of 2A3NPTCA crystal. The chemical bonding and various functional groups present in the 2A3NPTCA were identified from FT‐IR spectrum. The UV–visible–NIR transmission spectrum shows that it is suitable for frequency‐converting in the wavelength region of 431–1200 nm. Thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were carried out to characterize the thermal behaviors of the grown crystals. Kurtz and Perry powder method for second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements demonstrate that 2A3NPTCA is a phase matching material and its nonlinear optical efficiency is two times that of KDP. All the above results suggest that 2A3NPTCA is a potential candidate of NLO material.  相似文献

Single crystals of ZCTC with dimension up to 5x2x3mm3 were grown from aqueous solution by slow solvent evaporation method and the grown crystals were confirmed by single XRD and CHN analysis. The SHG efficiency of ZCTC was evaluated using Kurtz Perry technique. Its efficiency was found to be nearly 12 times that of urea when studied with the fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm. The mechanical properties of the grown crystal have been investigated by Vickers microhardness testing. The thermal parameters such as the thermal diffusivity (α), thermal effusivity (e), thermal conductivity (k) and heat capacity (cp) of ZCTC were measured by an improved photopyroelectric (PPE) technique and the results were discussed. The TG/DTG studies reveal that the decomposition of the sample begins around 350°C. The photoconducting nature of ZCTC has also been investigated and reported. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Single crystal growth of the organic nonlinear optical crystal, L‐arginine trifluoroacetate (L‐Arg·CF3COOH, abbreviated as LATF) is reported. Low temperature solution growth method is employed for the growth of bulk single crystals. The cell parameters are verified by single crystal diffraction. Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) and Fourier transform Raman analysis are used to confirm the presence of various functional groups in the grown crystal. The thermal properties of the grown crystals are studied by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorinetry analysis (TGA/DSC). The growth of a new nonlinear optical material L‐valine by solvent evaporation method is reported here. To grow good quality crystals pH value of growth solution has been optimized and solubility of L‐valine in different solvents and different pH values was determined. The grown crystals were characterized by IR, single crystal XRD, DTA and TGA, optical transmission and second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency measurement. Single crystals of a novel organic material, 4‐Chloro‐3‐Nitrobenzophenone (4C3N) were grown from acetone solution employing the technique of controlled evaporation. 4C3N belongs to the Orthorhombic system, with a = 12.9665(11) Å, b = 7.4388(6) Å, c = 24.336(2) Å, α = β = γ = 90°. FT‐IR study has been performed to identify the functional groups. The transmittance of 4C3N has been used to calculate the refractive index n; the extinction coefficient K and both the real εr and imaginary εi components of the dielectric constant as functions of photon energy. The optical band gap of 4C3N is 2.7 eV. Thermo gravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis have also been carried out, and the thermal behavior of 4C3N crystal has been studied. Single crystals of a new L‐Lysine salt: L‐Lysinium trifluoroacetate {abbreviated as LLyTFA; [(NH2)‐(CH2)4‐CH‐(NH3)‐(COOH)]+ CF3COO} were grown by slow evaporation of an aqueous solution at room temperature. The grown crystals were subjected to single crystal X‐ray diffraction, FTIR and UV‐Vis‐NIR spectrum analyses. The UV‐Vis‐NIR spectrum shows that the absorption is very less in the whole of the region from ultraviolet to near IR. The Kurtz‐Perry powder SHG measurement using a Nd:YAG laser of wavelength 1064nm confirms the frequency doubling of the crystal and its powder SHG efficiency was measured as deff = 0.96 deff (KDP). The formation of nanocrystalline TiO2 particles has been investigated via a surfactant‐free synthetic non‐hydrothermal method. Titanium isopropoxide and toluene were used as the starting materials. At a low temperature of 250 °C for 6 h, the reaction mixture turned in to a white precipitate (TiO2) as a result of the thermal decomposition of metal alkoxide. The obtained product was found to crystallize purely in the anatase phase with well defined morphology. The powder XRD study confirms that the average size of the particle is close to ∼15 nm. The TEM analysis indicates the sizes of the primary and secondary particles in the range between 8‐10 nm and 15‐20 nm respectively. The quantum size confinement of the crystallites is evident from the blue shift of the absorption edge in the UV‐Visible absorption spectrum. The luminescence property of the TiO2 nanoparticles studied by the emission spectrum confirms the presence of defect levels caused by the oxygen vacancies. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The organic NLO material 2‐nitro aniline and picric acid (2NAP) was synthesized, needle shaped single crystals of dimension 10 × 1 × 0.8 mm‐3 were grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique from the saturated solution of the title compound in chloroform at ambient temperature. The material was characterized through elemental analysis, powder XRD, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and FTIR techniques. The various planes of reflection have been identified from the XRD powder pattern. The formation of the charge transfer complex was confirmed by UV‐VIS spectroscopy. The thermal stability of the crystals was investigated using TG/DTA analyses techniques. In order to understand the effect of charge compensating vacancies on the number, orientation and magnitude of D‐tensors, single crystal EPR measurements have been carried out with Cr(III) in zinc(II) potassium phosphate hexahydrate at room temperature. During crystal rotations, a maximum of 6/7 resonance lines or a minimum of 2 is noticed. Crystal rotations done in the three orthogonal planes have yielded spin Hamiltonian parameters for one site with: gxx=1.969, gyy= 1.995, gzz= 2.107; Dxx= 66.2 mT; Dyy= 91.7 mT, and Dzz=‐157.9 mT. The powder EPR spectrum indicates a very broad line at g = 8, without any extra resonances from 0 to 650 mT both at room temperature and 77 K. The reason may be that due to large zero field splitting, the resonance at g = 2 is shifted to g = 8 position and the other resonances are below 0 or above 650 mT. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. A new second order non‐linear optical organic crystal Urea L‐threonine has been grown by aqueous solution slow cooling technique. The grown crystal is non hygroscopic and transparent in the visible region. The solubility of the grown crystal was found. The crystal structure and perfection were determined using powder XRD and High resolution XRD. The molecular structure was confirmed by 1H‐NMR spectrum. Thermal properties of the crystal have been studied using thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The dielectric response of the crystal with varying frequencies at different temperatures was studied. UV‐Visible spectrum was recorded to study the optical transparency of the grown crystals. The second order non linear optical property was examined by Kurtz powder technique and found that the second order susceptibilities is 1.2 KDP at wavelength 1064 nm. Nucleation parameters such as metastable zone width, induction period and interfacial energy have been determined for the aqueous solution growth of bis thiourea cadmium acetate (BTCA) single crystals. Solubility of BTCA has been determined for various temperatures. Metastable zone width and induction period values have been estimated in order to optimize the growth parameters. The interfacial tension values derived from experimentally determined induction period are found to be comparable with theoretical values. Bulk crystals of BTCA have been grown using the optimized growth parameters. The grown crystals have been subjected to structural, optical and mechanical property studies. The preparation and single crystal growth of bis(tetrabutylammonium)bis(4,5‐dithiolato‐1,3‐dithiole‐2‐thione)copper, (I), are described. The energy gap Eg of (I) is about 2.38 eV. The nonlinear optical susceptibility χ(3) is about 1.3×10‐3 esu at 1064 nm. The characterization of (I) has been performed by electronic absorption, infrared and X‐ray powder diffraction spectroscopy. Trans‐bis(2‐pyridinepropanol)bis(saccharinato)nickel(II), [Ni(sac)2(pypr)2], where sac and pypr are the saccharinate anion and the 2‐pyridinepropanol molecule, respectively, crystallizes in the triclinic space group P (No. 2) with a = 8.1981(8), b = 9.9680(10), c = 10.4956(10) Å, α = 90.740(3)° β = 108.142(3)°, γ = 111.025(3)°, Z = 1, V = 1.537 Å3. The structure of the nickel(II) complex consists of neutral molecules in which the nickel(II) ion sits on a center of symmetry and is octahedrally coordinated by two sac ligands, and two neutral pypr ligands. The pypr acts as a bidentate N‐ and O‐donor ligand forming a seven‐membered chelate ring, while sac behaves as a monodentate O‐donor ligand via the carbonyl O atom. The Ni‐N bond distance is 2.1016(15) Å, whereas the Ni‐Opypr and Ni‐Osac bond distances are 2.1280(12) and 2.0792(11) Å, respectively. The individual molecules are held together with a strong hydrogen bond between the hydroxyl O atom of pypr and N atom of sac and the C‐H…O type weak hydrogen bonds between some ring hydrogen atoms of pypr and sac, and the carbonyl and sulfonyl O atoms of sac in the neighbouring molecules. The BaY2F8 crystals doped with different concentrations of Tm3+ ions were prepared by the temperature gradient technique (TGT). X‐ray powder diffraction was applied to analyze the phase. The cracking phenomenon along (010) and (100) planes of the crystals grown by temperature gradient technique was studied on the basis of the structure of BaY2F8 crystals. The absorption spectra were measured and investigated in the ultraviolet‐visible and near‐infrared ranges at room temperature. Several characteristic absorption bands of Tm3+‐doped BaY2F8 crystal were observed. The emission and excitation spectra were obtained and investigated at room temperature and 12 K, showing the characteristic emission peaks of Tm3+ ions. The temperature dependence of Photoluminescence curve was also investigated in the range of 12–296 K. The luminescence intensity of emission bands decreased with increasing temperature, while the effective bandwidth increased. The up‐conversion spectrum excited at 650 nm was recorded and up‐conversion mechanism was analyzed in detail. The result showed the purple, green and yellow emissions corresponding to 3P13F3, 1D23H5 and 3P01G4 transitions, respectively.  相似文献

Amino acid family crystals exhibit excellent nonlinear and electro‐optical properties. L‐alanine alaninium nitrate (LAAN) single crystal belonging to the amino acid group was grown by slow cooling solution growth technique. The High resolution X‐ray diffraction (HRXRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, UV‐Vis., Photoluminescence (PL) and Factor group analyses were carried out. The factor group analysis reveals 183 internal vibrations for the title compound. The second harmonic generation property was tested by Kurtz‐Perry powder technique. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra of Tl4Ga3InSe8 layered crystals grown by Bridgman method have been studied in the wavelength region of 600‐750 nm and in the temperature range of 17‐68 K. A broad PL band centered at 652 nm (1.90 eV) was observed at T = 17 K. Variations of emission band has been studied as a function of excitation laser intensity in the 0.13 to 55.73 mW cm‐2 range. Radiative transitions from donor level located at 0.19 eV below the bottom of conduction band to shallow acceptor level located at 0.03 eV above the top of the valence band were suggested to be responsible for the observed PL band. From X‐ray powder diffraction and optical absorption study, the parameters of monoclinic unit cell and the energy of indirect band gap were determined, respectively. Crack‐free, rod‐shaped single crystals of undoped and 0.5, 0.7 and 1.0 mol% ZrO2‐doped LiNbO3 with a near‐stoichiometric composition were grown by the micro‐pulling down (μ‐PD) method. The structural properties of the grown crystals were examined by powder X‐ray diffraction (XRD). Electron probe micro analysis (EPMA) of the near‐stoichiometric LiNbO3 single crystals revealed the homogeneous incorporation of Zr ions. Yb: LuPO4 crystals with the size up to 6×2×0.5mm3 were grown by the flux growth process using lead pyrophosphate Pb2P2O7 as the high‐temperature solvent. The crystal structure of Yb: LuPO4 crystals at room temperature was refined by using single crystal X‐ray diffraction data. Crystal structure analysis showed that Yb: LuPO4 crystals possessed the tetragonal xenotime structure. The polarized absorption spectra of Yb: LuPO4 were tested at room temperature. The results showed that the absorption spectral region of Yb: LuPO4 crystal was well matched for pumping with readily available diode lasers.  相似文献

To explore the possibility of obtaining the metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) bearing the 2‐bromo‐1,4‐benzenedicarboxylate ligand, one new Mn(II) and one Co(II) coordination polymers, [Mn(HL)2(bipy)2·2H2O]·bipy ( 1 ) and [Co(L)(bpe)] ( 2 ) (bipy=4,4′‐bipyridine; bpe=1,2‐bis(4‐pyridyl)ethene) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and X‐ray diffraction analysis. Compounds 1 exhibits one‐dimensional coordination chains, which are further connected to form two dimensional supramolecular networks through hydrogen bonding interactions. Compound 2 presents a two‐fold interpenetrating two‐dimensional layer structure. The 2‐bromo‐1,4‐benzenedicarboxylate anion exhibits different coordination modes in the two complexes.
