A pulsed master-oscillator power fiber amplifier (MOPFA) system based on Yb3+-doped large mode area (LMA) double-clad optical fiber was developed. The system generated pulses of changeable duration ranging from about 8.5 to 250.0 ns at the repetition rate of up to 500 kHz. The laser system emitted up to 22 W of average output power at the wavelength of 1064 nm.  相似文献

Results on high radiance Yb3+-doped fiber lasers with novel double innerclad structures (double-D clad and four hole) and polarized output at ≈1090 nm are presented. We have demonstrated >40% of the total output power being polarized, making the fiber laser suitable for LIDAR and second-harmonic generation (SHG) applications. It also showed a 10-nm tuning range with low (less than 10 mW) average power variations. The narrow linewidth source was pumped with a low cost, low brightness laser diode, and exhibited a relatively low slope efficiency, which gives room for improvement by using a 976-nm pump source where Yb3+ has a narrower linewidth and at least five times higher absorption.  相似文献

A wavelength tunable laser system mode-locked by nonlinear polarization evolution based on a 3 cm-long homemade Er3+/Yb3+ codoped phosphate fiber has been reported. By simply adjusting the polarization controllers, the central wavelength of the mode-locked spectrum can be tuned over 1537.1–1563.3 nm continuously. Moreover, 264-fs pulse with 3-dB spectral width of 39.6 nm and peak power of 7.8 kW at a 7.55 MHz repetition rate is generated directly from the all-fiber ring cavity.  相似文献

We propose a laser-diode-pumped Yb:YAG laser as a novel practical fiber amplifier pump source, and describe its first successful application of high-output-power operation (850 mW=+29.3 dB m) of an Er3+,Yb3+-codoped fiber amplifier at 1.55 μm. We have developed both bulk and microchip Yb:YAG lasers and obtained 3.3 W and 2.7 W, respectively, in the cw mode at room temperature. Laser-diode-pumped Yb:YAG lasers are shown to have a potential applicability to such fiber amplifiers as Pr3+-doped amplifiers and Tm3+-doped amplifiers, as well as Er3+,Yb3+-codoped fiber amplifiers. We report on a master-oscillator fiber power amplifier (MOPA) system with a core diameter of only 20 μm and 6-m-long Yb3+-doped large mode area (LMA) double-clad fiber. Actively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser is used as a seed source of light pluses. The system works at the repetition rate from 40 to 100 kHz. Up to 77 W of amplified radiation with the pulse duration of 17.8 ns at the wavelength of 1064 nm and repetition rate of 40 kHz are generated, corresponding to pulse energy of 1.9 mJ and the slope efficiency of 73.5%. In reported literatures, the 77 W is the highest average power with a 20-μm-core LMA fiber to our knowledge. The stimulate Brillouin scattering (SBS) is observed and investigated.  相似文献

We have demonstrated a novel tunable linear cavity Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped fiber laser, which utilizes amplified spontaneous emission as a secondary pump source so that it can operate in L-band. The tuning wavelength range can be up to 34 nm, from 1588.6 to 1622.6 nm, and the output power excursion of the laser at different wavelengths can be less than 0.4 dB by using a two sections of high-birefringence fiber loop mirror as the wavelength filter. The high output power of 200 mW is realized by using the cladding-pump.  相似文献

We present the spectroscopic properties and room-temperature cw tunable laser operation of Yb3+-doped CaF2, SrF2 and BaF2 single crystals grown and studied in the same conditions. Emission cross sections, lifetimes, laser thresholds, laser slope efficiencies and laser wavelength tuning ranges are compared. 采用主振荡功率放大的方式,研制成功集宽带波长连续可调谐、带宽内输出功率谱均衡、高重复频率和高功率性能于一体的超短脉冲包层抽运铒镱共掺光纤激光器.将优化主振荡器和功率放大器的腔结构与掺铒光纤的饱和增益特性结合起来,实现了1535nm—1570nm(35nm带宽)的输出功率均衡的波长连续可调谐激光输出,在带宽内激光功率的最大波动仅为0.5dBm;带宽内平均输出功率大于2W、脉冲重复频率大于10GHz、脉冲宽度小于30ps.该激光器具有综合性能指标先进、结构简单、全光纤化、使用方便等优点. 关键词: 光纤激光器 包层抽运 短脉冲 高重复频率  相似文献

Rare-earth doped fiber lasers are now considered suitable sources for the 1.0-, 1.5-, and even 2.0-μm regions in a relatively large number of applications. In particular, Yb3+-doped fiber lasers have received strong interest due to its high quantum efficiency, broad tunability, and available high output power. In this work, we present results on a newly developed code for the simulation of the critical power that is required when designing double-clad high-power Yb3+-doped fiber lasers, which are based on novel inner-clad structures. From our results, we can also estimate σep, σel, σap, and σal for the aforementioned free-running laser cavities. Finally, we will formulate our predictions for feasible fiber laser cross sections.  相似文献

A diode-pumped sub-picosecond laser is realized with Yb3+-doped yttrium lanthanum oxide transparent ceramic Yb:(Y0.9La0.1)2O3 as the gain medium for the first time. By using Gires-Tournois interferometer mirrors and chirped mirror for dispersion compensation and semiconductor saturable absorber mirror for passive mode-locking, laser pulse as short as 730 fs was obtained at the central wavelength of 1033 nm and repetition rate of 65.5 MHz. Under the maximum pump power of 6 W at 976 nm, the output power is 92 mW.  相似文献

We demonstrate a stable and efficient passively Q-switched 2.8 μm Er3+-doped ZBLAN fiber laser with a broadband semiconductor saturable absorber mirror. Enabled by the broadband optical modulator, the stable Q-switched fiber laser can deliver a maximum average power over 700 mW with corresponding per-pulse energy of 8.19 μJ and a pulse width of 1.3 μs at a repetition rate of 88.6 kHz under an incident pump power of 3.8 W. In addition, the slope efficiency can reach 22.5%. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest reported slope efficiency for the passively Q-switched Er3+-doped ZBLAN fiber laser.  相似文献

A novel shooting method with excellent simple control strategy is developed for solving the failure to convergence of the traditional shooting methods themselves in fiber lasers model. Compared with the published literature, the novel shooting method provides a clear physical understanding method for getting the threshold pump power and the exact results with given random functions in Yb3+-doped fiber lasers and Er3+-doped fiber lasers. Then, the results in Er3+-doped fiber lasers and Yb3+-doped fiber lasers demonstrate that the solutions using the novel shooting method has high accuracy of 10−8 W with several iteration steps, which have extended the applicable range of the end-pumped power even lower than 1 mW pump power. Furthermore, compared with 1480 nm pump for the threshold and slope efficiencies of the Er3+-doped fiber lasers, 978 nm fiber lasers can extend wider scope of application and be pump source in the coming future. Finally, the lower threshold and higher slope efficiency at 975 nm than those of 910 nm pump in Yb3+-doped fiber lasers, 975 nm pump laser provides for broad band excellent cladding pump source.  相似文献

以芯径为30 μm的掺Yb3+双包层光纤为增益介质, 利用非线性偏振旋转技术以及光栅-小孔结构组成的光谱滤波器提供有效的振幅调制, 实现了稳定的全正色散耗散孤子锁模运转. 激光器直接输出重复频率为76.6 MHz、平均功率达6.3 W的超短脉冲, 单脉冲能量可达82 nJ. 直接输出脉冲宽度为1.33 ps, 经腔外压缩后的宽度为377 fs. 通过调节光栅角度还实现了输出脉冲中心波长在1025—1078 nm范围内的调谐.  相似文献

The diode laser (LD) clad-pumped 1947.6 nm continuous wave (CW) Tm3+-doped fiber amplifier is reported using the master oscillation power amplifier (MOPA) method. The injected seed laser is provided by an all-fiber LD-clad-pumped Tm3+-doped single-mode fiber laser, which has a nearly 2.4 W maximal output power and 0.1 nm ultra-narrow linewidth based on the intracore reflection FBG. Using the 25/400 μm double-clad LMA Tm3+-doped fiber as the gain fiber, the output maximal output power is 30.6 W from the fiber amplifier, with a slope efficiency of 39.1% respected to the LD total output power. A high power multi-mode fiber combiner is used to couple high power LD light into the gain fiber. The output wavelength is also located at 1947.6 nm, with the slightly expanded laser linewidth of 0.2 nm.  相似文献

The top-hat beam clad-pumped Tm3+-doped fiber laser was realized simply using an intracavity multi-mode abrupt taper. The ratio of the flat-top diameter to the spot diameter reaches 53%, with a small intensity variation less than 6%, and the top-hat beam’s half-divergence angle is only 5.3°. The fiber laser has a maximal output power of 5 W with slope efficiency of 39.7%, pumped by the 792 nm diode laser (LD). The abrupt taper is directly made on the multi-mode double-clad Tm3+-doped fiber near the fiber laser output end with the 0.45 ratio of taper waist diameter to fiber clad diameter, and this fiber end 4% Fresnel reflection is used to be the output coupler. The fiber laser’s high reflective coupler is an intracore multi-mode FBG, which is directly written into the multi-mode Tm3+-doped fiber core using femtosecond laser and phase mask, at the other fiber end. The abrupt taper has no obviously influence on the fiber laser output power, and the output laser spectrum.  相似文献

Dual wavelength operation at 1062.8 nm and 1064.1 nm in a diode-pumped hybrid laser comprising of Nd3+-doped birefringent YVO4 and GdVO4 crystals is demonstrated. A detailed characterization of the laser is performed under CW and pulsed operation. Under Q-switching, 4 W of average power at 5 kHz repetition rate is obtained with 32 ns FWHM pulse duration corresponding to 25 kW of the peak power. The intensity and the polarization of the individual spectral components can be easily controlled by changing the relative gain and the relative orientation of the two crystals. The resulting pulsed dual-wavelength laser has the potential to be used as a source for generating terahertz radiation.  相似文献

Erbium doped fiber and Er3+/Yb3+ codoped phosphate glass fiber are used as the laser media, respectively, to achieve self-started mode-locking based on nonlinear polarization rotation. It is found that the formation of the soliton molecule is the popular phenomenon in fiber laser. The laser media with high gain coefficient and short length is benefit of the formation of the soliton molecule at fundamental repetition rate and will generate evident soliton molecule pulse profile with strong accompanied structures. The achievement of soliton molecule owes to the partial operation of polarization filter effect in laser cavity due to the weak nonlinear polarization rotation in gain media with high gain coefficient and short length.  相似文献
