Consider a real-analytic orientable connected complete Riemannian manifold M with boundary of dimension n ≥ 2 and let k be an integer 1 ≤ k ≤ n. In the case when M is compact of dimension n ≥ 3, we show that the manifold and the metric on it can be reconstructed, up to an isometry, from the set of the Cauchy data for harmonic k-forms, given on an open subset of the boundary. This extends a result of [14 Lassas , M. , Uhlmann , G. ( 2001 ). On determining a Riemannian manifold from the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map . Ann. Sci. In the two-dimensional case, the same conclusion is obtained when considering the set of the Cauchy data for harmonic 1-forms. Under additional assumptions on the curvature of the manifold, we carry out the same program when M is complete non-compact. In the case n ≥ 3, this generalizes the results of [13 Lassas , M. , Taylor , M. , Uhlmann , G. ( 2003 ). The Dirichlet-to-Neumann map for complete Riemannian manifolds with boundary . Comm. Anal. We study the closed extensions (realizations) of differential operators subject to homogeneous boundary conditions on weighted L p -Sobolev spaces over a manifold with boundary and conical singularities. Under natural ellipticity conditions we determine the domains of the minimal and the maximal extension. We show that both are Fredholm operators and give a formula for the relative index. Let (M,g) be a complete Riemannian manifold. We study exit time moments of natural diffusions from smoothly bounded domains in M with compact closure. Our results give relationships between bounds on the exit time moments and their corresponding averages (over the associated domain), and the global geometry of M. In particular, for averaged moments of Brownian motion, we prove an analog of the Faber–Krahn theorem.  相似文献

In this paper, the authors give a mixed norm estimate for the multi-parameter fractional integrals on product measurable spaces. This estimate is applied to obtain the boundedness for the fractional integrals of Nagel-Stein type on product manifolds, the fractional integral of Folland-Stein type with rough convolution kernels on product homogeneous groups, and the discrete fractional integrals of Stein-Wainger type. Two boundary value problems for non-linear higher-order ordinary differential equations are analyzed, which have been recently proposed in the modeling of steady and quasi-steady thin viscous flows over a bounded solid substrate. The first problem concerns steady states and consists of a third-order ODE for the height of the liquid; the ODE contains an unknown parameter, the flux, and the boundary conditions relate, near the edges of the substrate, the height and its second derivative to the flux itself. For this problem, (non-)existence and non-uniqueness results are proved depending on the behavior, as the flux approaches zero, of the “height-function” (the function which relates the height to the flux near the edge out of which the liquid flows). The second problem concerns quasi-steady states and consists of a fourth-order ODE for the (suitably scaled) height of the liquid; non-linear boundary conditions relate the height to the flux near the edges of the substrate. For this problem, the existence of a solution is proved for a suitable class of height-functions.  相似文献

We consider a linear second-order differential equation with irregularly singular point at the beginning of the interval. For the corresponding homogeneous differential equation, we obtain the asymptotics of the solutions and their derivatives near the singular point. Using some modified Green functions and taking into account the asymptotics, we consider three boundary value problems with various boundary conditions (including a weighted one) at the singular point, proving theorems on the existence and uniqueness of the solutions and giving their structure. A horizontal Hodge Laplacian operator $\square_{\mathcal {H}}$ is defined for Hermitian holomorphic vector bundles over PTM on K¨ahler Finsler manifold, and the expression of $\square_{\mathcal {H}}$ is obtained explicitly in terms of horizontal covariant derivatives of the Chern-Finsler connection. The vanishing theorem is obtained by using the $\partial_{\mathcal {H}}\ov{\partial}_{\mathcal {H}}$-method on K¨ahler Finsler manifolds.  相似文献

We consider the numerical solution for the Helmholtz equation in R~2 with mixed boundary conditions.The solvability of this mixed boundary value problem is estab- lished by the boundary integral equation method.Based on the Green formula,we express the solution in terms of the boundary data.The key to the numerical real- ization of this method is the computation of weakly singular integrals.Numerical performances show the validity and feasibility of our method.The numerical schemes proposed in this paper have been applied in the realization of probe method for inverse scattering problems.  相似文献

In this paper we prove unique solvability of the generalized Stokes resolvent equations in an infinite layer Ω0 = ℝn –1 × (–1, 1), n ≥ 2, in Lq ‐Sobolev spaces, 1 < q < ∞, with slip boundary condition of on the “upper boundary” ∂Ω+0 = ℝn –1 × {1} and non‐slip boundary condition on the “lower boundary” ∂Ω0 = ℝn –1 × {–1}. The solution operator to the Stokes system will be expressed with the aid of the solution operators of the Laplace resolvent equation and a Mikhlin multiplier operator acting on the boundary. The paper determines the location of the steady state interface between fresh and saltwater in a plane coastal aquifer. The lower boundary is totally impervious while the upper one is impervious below land and semi-pervious below the sea allowing an outflow through this part of the upper boundary. The model equations reduce to two boundary value problems, one valid in x < 0 and the other in x > 0 here x is measured along the aquifer with the origin at the coast. In each region unknown boundaries have to be determined as part of the solution using boundary and continuity conditions. Two cases are presented using the Dupuit approximation. One where the solution can be written down in terms of elementary functions and the other in which we have to use a phase space analysis.  相似文献

This paper studies the operator dd+dd acting on q-forms on an unbounded domain with smooth boundary, where d is the exterior derivative and d is the adjoint of d calculated using the Sobolev space topology. The domain of d is determined and an expression for d is obtained. The operator dd+dd gives rise to a boundary value problem. Global regularity is obtained using weighted norms and global existence is obtained by using the theory of compact operators.  相似文献
