Crystal and molecular structure of (z)-isopropyl 2-hydroxy-4,5-dioxo-1-phenyl-3-[phenyl(phenylamino)-methylene]pyrrolidine-2-carboxylate

Reactions of isopropyl 2-(1-aryl-4,5-dioxo-2-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-3-yl)-2-oxoacetates with aromatic amines involve a pyrroledione-pyrroledione recyclization to form isopropyl 1-aryl-2-hydroxy-4,5-dioxo-3-[phenyl(arylamino)methylene]pyrrolidine-2-carboxylates. The crystal and molecular structure of (Z)-isopropyl 2-hydroxy-4,5-dioxo-1-phenyl-3-[phenyl(phenylamino)methylene]pyrrolidine-2-carboxylate was proved by XRD analysis.     

Five-membered 2,3-dioxo heterocycles: CV. Reaction of methyl 1-aryl-3-aroyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates with methyl 2-arylamino-4-(2-naphthyl)-4-oxobut-2-enoates. Crystal and molecular structure of substituted 1,7-diazaspiro[4.4]nonane

Methyl 1-aryl-3-aroyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates reacted with methyl 2-arylamino-4-(2-naphthyl)-4-oxobut-2-enoates to give methyl 1,7-diaryl-4-aroyl-3-hydroxy-9-(2-naphthalen-2-ylcarbonyl)-2,6-dioxo-1,7-diazaspiro[4.4]nona-3,8-diene-8-carboxylates.     

Five-membered 2.3-dioxo heterocycles: LXVIII. Three pathways in the reaction of methyl 3-aroyl-1-aryl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates with 3-amino-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-en-1-one

Methyl 3-aroyl-1-aryl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates reacted with 3-amino-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-en-1-one having no substituent on the nitrogen atom to give 3-aroyl-4-arylamino-6′,6′-dimethyl-6′,7′-dihydro-5H-spiro[furan-2,3′-indole]-2′,4′,5′(1′H,5′H)-triones or methyl 12-aroyl-11-aryl-9-hydroxy-5,5-dimethyl-3,10-dioxo-8,11-diazatricyclo[7.2.1.0^2,7]dodec-2(7)-ene-1-carboxylates. The latter underwent thermal recyclization to 3′-aroyl-1′-aryl-4′-hydroxy-6,6-dimethyl-6,7-dihydrospiro[indole-3,2′-pyrrole]-2,4,5′(1H,1′H,5H)-triones.     

Five-membered 2,3-dioxo heterocycles: C. Reaction of methyl 1-aryl-3-cinnamoyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carbocylates with acyclic enamines

Methyl 1-aryl-3-cinnamoyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carbocylates react with N-substituted ethyl 3-amino-3-phenylprop-2-enoates, ethyl 3-aminobut-2-enoates, 3-amino-1,3-diphenylprop-2-en-1-ones, and dimethyl 2-arylaminofumarates to give 9-ethoxycarbonyl-, 9-benzoyl-, and 8,9-bis(methoxycarbonyl)-4-cinnamoyl-1,7-diazaspiro[4.4]nona-3,8-dienes.     

Five-membered 2,3-dioxo heterocycles: LXXXIX. Reaction of methyl 1-aryl-3-cinnamoyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates with (E)-4-arylaminopent-3-en-2-ones. Crystalline and molecular structure of 9-acetyl-4-cinnamoyl-3-hydroxy-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-8-methyl-7-phenyl-1,7-diazaspiro[4.4]nona-3,8-diene-2,6-dione

Methyl 1-aryl-3-cinnamoyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates reacted with 4-benzylamino- and 4-arylaminopent-3-en-2-ones to give 1-aryl-7-benzyl- and 1,7-diaryl-9-acetyl-4-cinnamoyl-3-hydroxy-8-methyl-1,7-diazaspiro[4.4]nona-3,8-diene-2,6-diones. The crystalline and molecular structures of 9-acetyl-4-cinnamoyl-3-hydroxy-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-8-methyl-7-phenyl-1,7-diazaspiro[4.4]nona-3,8-diene-2,6-dione were studied by X-ray analysis.     

Reaction of methyl 3-aroyl-1-aryl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>-pyrrole-2-carboxylates with arylhydrazines. synthesis of isomeric 5-arylcarbamoyl-4-aroyl- and 5-aryl-4-aryloxamoyl-1<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>-pyrazoles

Methyl 3-aroyl-1-aryl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates reacted with arylhydrazines to give methyl 3-aroyl-1-aryl-2-(2-arylhydrazinyl)-4-hydroxy-5-oxo-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates which underwent thermal recyclization into isomeric methyl 1-aryl-5-(arylcarbamoyl)-4-aroyl-1H-pyrazole- 3-carboxylates and methyl 1,5-diaryl-4-[2-oxo-2-(arylamino)acetyl]-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylates.     

Five-membered 2,3-dioxoheterocycles: LVIII. Reaction of methyl 1-Aryl-3-aroyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-2-carboxylates with substituted 1-methyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinolines. New approach to the synthesis of steroid 13-azaanalogs

Methyl 1-aryl-3-aroyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates reacted with substituted 1-methyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinolines with the formation of substituted 3-oxo-2,3,5,6-tetra-hydropyrrolo[2,1-a]-isoquinoline-2-spiro-2′-(1-aryl-3-aroyl-4-hydroxy-5-oxo-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrroles). A new approach was developed to the synthesis of 13-azagonanes, substituted benzo[f]pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinoline-9-spiro-2′-pyrroles.     

Five-membered 2,3-dioxo heterocycles: LV. Reaction of methyl 1-aryl-3-aroyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>-pyrrole-2-carboxylates with ethyl 3-arylaminobut-2-enoates

Methyl 1-aryl-3-aroyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates reacted with ethyl 3-aryl-aminobut-2-enoates to give the corresponding ethyl 1,7-diaryl-4-aroyl-3-hydroxy-8-methyl-2,6-dioxo-1,7-diazaspiro[4.4]nona-3,8-diene-9-carboxylates.

1-Aryl-4,5-bis(methoxycarbonyl)-1H-pyrrole-2,3-diones react with ethyl 3-(benzylamino)but-2-enoate and ethyl 3-(benzylamino)-3-phenylacrylate giving 4-methyl 9-ethyl 1-aryl-7-benzyl-3-hydroxy-8-methyl- and 4-methyl 9-ethyl 1-aryl-7-benzyl-3-hydroxy-8-phenyl-2,6-dioxo-1,7-diazaspiro[4.4]nona-3,8-diene-4,9-dicarboxylates.     

Five-membered 2,3-dioxo heterocycles: LXXV. Reaction of methyl 1-aryl-3-aroyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates with 1,3-diphenylguanidine. Crystalline and molecular structure of 9-Benzoyl-8-hydroxy-2-imino-6-(4-methylphenyl)-1,3-diphenyl-1,3,6-triazaspiro-[4.4]non-8-ene-4,7-dione

Methyl 1-aryl-3-aroyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates reacted with 1,3-diphenylguanidine to give the corresponding 6-aryl-9-aroyl-8-hydroxy-2-imino-1,3-diphenyl-1,3,6-triazaspiro[4.4]non-8-ene-4,7-diones. The molecular and crystalline structures of 9-benzoyl-8-hydroxy-2-imino-6-(4-methylphenyl)-1,3-diphenyl-1,3,6-triazaspiro[4.4]non-8-ene-4,7-dione were determined by X-ray analysis.     

Five-membered 2,3-dioxo heterocycles: LIV. Double spiro heterocyclization of methyl 1-aryl-3-benzoyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1<Emphasis Type="Italic">H</Emphasis>-pyrrole-2-carboxylates with 3-arylamino-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-en-1-ones

Methyl 1-aryl-3-benzoyl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylates reacted with 3-arylamino-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-en-1-ones in boiling benzene to give the corresponding 1,1′-diaryl-3′-benzoyl-4′-hydroxy-6,6-dimethyl-1,1′,2,4,5,5′,6,7-octahydrospiro[indole-3,2′-pyrrole]-2,4,5′-triones and 1′-aryl-4-arylamino-3-benzoyl-6′,6′-dimethyl-1′,2′,4′,5′,6′,7′-hexahydro-5H-spiro[furan-2,3′-indole]-2′,4′,5-triones whose structure was proved by X-ray analysis.     

Reactions of Ethyl 2-Amino-5-(2-aryl-2-oxoethylidene)- 4-oxo-4,5-dihydrofuran-3-carboxylates and 2-Amino-5-(2-aryl- 2-oxoethylidene)-4-oxo-4,5-dihydrofuran-3-carbonitriles with Alcohols

Ethyl 2-amino-5-(2-aryl-2-oxoethylidene)-4-oxo-1H-4,5-dihydrofuran-3-carboxylates and 2-amino- 5-(2-aryl-2-oxoethylidene)-4-oxo-1H-4,5-dihydrofuran-3-carbonitriles reacted with alcohols in the presence of a catalytic amount of concentrated aqueous HCl to give the corresponding 5-alkoxy-2-amino-5-(2-aryl-2- oxoethyl)-4-oxo-1H-4,5-dihydrofuran-3-carboxylic acid derivatives. A probable reaction mechanism was proposed on the basis B3LYP/6-311G(d) quantum chemical calculations.     

Recyclization of Pyrrolediones with Arylaminoindenones. Synthesis of Indeno[1,2-<Emphasis Type="Italic">b</Emphasis>]pyridines

Dimethyl 1-aryl-4,5-dioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-2,3-dicarboxylates reacted with 3-arylamino-1H-inden-1-ones to give the corresponding methyl 1-aryl-3-[2-(arylamino)-2-oxoacetyl]-2,5-dioxo-2,5-dihydro-1H-indeno[1,2-b]pyridine-4-carboxylates.     

Synthesis of 4,5-dihydroisoxazoles from <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-nitroso-4,5-dihydropyrazoles

Preparation of 1-aryl-2-methyl-3-carbethoxy-4,5-dioxo-6-bromoindoles

1-Aryl-2-methyl-3-carbethoxy-5-hydroxy-6-bromoindoles are oxidized by nitric acid to 1-aryl-2-methyl-3-carbethoxy-4,5-dioxo-6-bromoindoles, while 1,2-dimethyl-3-carbethoxy-5-hydroxy-6-bromoindole is converted to the 4,6-dinitro derivative under similar conditions.

Crystal and molecular structure of N-[3′-benzoyl-1′-(4-chlorophenyl)-4′-hydroxy-6,6-dimethyl-2,4,5′-trioxo-1′,4,5,5′,6,7-hexahydrospiro-[indole-3,2′-pyrrol]-1(2H)-yl]benzamide

Synthesis of perfluoroalkyl-substituted 4,5-dihydro-3H-pyrazolo[4,3-a]phenazines and tetrahydroimidazo[4,5-e]indazoles

Oxidation of 1-aryl-3-perfluoroalkyl-6,7-dihydro-1H-indazol-4(5H)-ones with selenium dioxide in the presence of sulfuric acid in glacial acetic acid, followed by treatment of 6,7-dihydro-1H-indazole-4,5-diones thus obtained with an equimolar amount of o-phenylenediamine in ethanol or with a mixture of 4-fluorobenzaldehyde and ammonium acetate in acetic acid, gave 3-aryl-1-perfluoroalkyl-4,5-dihydro-3H-pyrazolo-[4,3-a]phenazines and 6-aryl-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-8-perfluoroalkyl-1(3),4,5,6-tetrahydroimidazo[4,5-e]indazoles, respectively.     

Synthesis of quaternary 3-(1,3-dioxo-1H-isoindol-2-ylmethyl)-5,6-dihydroimidazo[2,1-b]thiazolium salts

The reaction of dihydroimidazole-2-thiol with N-(3-chloro-2-oxopropyl)phthalimide gave 2-[3-(4,5-dihydroimidazol-2-ylsulfanyl)-2-oxopropyl]-1,3-dioxo-1H-isoindole which underwent intramolecular heterocyclization to dihydroimidazothiazole system by the action of a dehydrating agent. Treatment of 3-(1,3-dioxo-1H-isoindol-2-ylmethyl)-5,6-dihydroimidazo[2,1-b]thiazole with concentrated hydrochloric acid led to the formation of dihydroimidazo[2,1-b]thiazol-3-ylmethanamine. Water-soluble quaternary 3-(1,3-dioxo-1H-isoindol-2-ylmethyl)-5,6-dihydroimidazo[2,1-b]thiazolium salts were obtained by alkylation of 3-(1,3-dioxo-1H-isoindol-2-ylmethyl)-5,6-dihydroimidazo[2,1-b]thiazole with alkyl halides.     

Reaction of methyl 1-bromocyclopentane-1-carboxylate with zinc and 3-aryl-2-cyanoprop-2-enamides

Reformatsky reaction of methyl 1-bromocyclopentane-1-carboxylic acid with 3-aryl-2-cyanoprop-2-enamides and their N-methyl derivatives afforded 10-aryl-6,8-dioxo-7-azaspiro[4.5]decane-9-carbonitriles and 10-aryl-7-methyl-6,8-dioxo-7-azaspiro[4.5]decane-9-carbonitriles, respectively.
