Abstract: | A flattened elliptic ring containing an electron is studied. Theemphasis is placed on clarifying the effect of the flattening. Thelocalized states are classified into four types according to theirinherent nodes. When the ring becomes more flattened, the totalprobability of dipole absorption of each state is found to bereduced. Furthermore, each spectral line of absorption is found toshift towards red and may split into a few lines, and these lines asa whole become more diffusive. |
