| Abstract: | Sodium hydride with nanometric size exhibits high reactivity for the reductive dehalogenation of organic halides in the presence of a catalytic amount of lanthanide chloride or a mixture of ytterbium chloride and nickel chloride. The catalytic activity of lanthanide chloride decreases with the increase of atomic number of the rare earth element. The combination of ytterbium chloride and nickel chloride shows remarkable synergic effect on the reductive dechlorination of chlorobenzene. |
