Abstract:A new type of CuO-SiO2 catalyst for the gas phase hydrogenation of furfural to produce furfuryl alcohol was developed.Some preparing conditions of the catalyst was presented in the paper.The TPR profile of the catalyst showed that the CuO in the catalyst was more difficult to be reduced than the normal CuO sample.The hydrogenation reaction was carried out at 378K and 0.1MPa.The conversion of furfural is nearly 100% and the selectivity for furfuryl alcohol is 98%.
