| Abstract: | The mechanism of the high water-absorbency of polymers is further explained according to the Flory's swell thermaldynamic theory and the recent researches on swell kinetics. The effects of the composition and reaction conditions on the synthesis of superabsorbents is discussed in detail. The development and wide applications of those superabsorbent polymers during the last thirty years are briefly introduced. Furthermore, the tendency of the research and development of superabsorbent is predicted. |
