| Abstract: | A new technique of covalent bonding of polymethaerylic acid onto heparin was described. The reaction involved free radical polymerization of methacrylic acid (MAA) initiated by tetravalent cerie ion in aqueous solution and crosslinked with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate.The characteristics on the grafting reaction and the resulting polymer were studied. The antithrombogenicity of the crosslinked polymer was tested. The preliminary results showed that these copolymers are of excellent antithromboresistance and may be interesting for medical applications. |
