Abstract: | Highly active, hierarchical zeolite ZSM-5 aggregates have been prepared in a one-step synthesis using alkanolamine as single template. The effects of SiO2/Al2O3, pH and H2O/SiO2 on the aggregate morphology of the ZSM-5 nanocrystals were investigated. The obtained aggregate zeolites characterized by SEM, TEM and BET possessed significant textual porosity (up to 0.22 cm3/g), which could be tuned by the number of substituents in the alkanolamine molecules and the amount of aluminum in the synthetic mixtures. These zeolite aggregates showed high activities for Friedel–Crafts alkylations and may curtail the filtration difficulties during the synthesis and applications to some extent. |
