High speed counter current chromatography(HSCCC) is a new form of support-free liquid-liquid partition chromatographic technique. With the development of chromatographic technique, HSCCC has made great progress in theory and technique. HSCCC has gained extensive application in many aspects, especially in the field of preparative separation and purification of active components from natural products. It has become one of the most preponderant techniques for preparative separation. The principle of HSCCC was introduced and its recent application in the separation of active ingredients in natural products was reviewed.
