Abstract:A method for the determination of polychlorobiphenyls(PCBs) inbiological samples with microwave-assisted saponification and extraction( MASE) is described by gas chromatography. A KOH methanol solution-hexane system was used as a saponification and extraction solvent. Experimental results indicate that the saponification of the sample matrix and the extraction of PCBs could be carried out simultaneously. The detection limit was 6.25 × 10-9 (mass fraction), recoveries for spiked fish sample were between 92%~98% , and the RSD was 2.3% . This method is simple, rapid, efficient, accurate and solvent saving. It is particularly suitable for the rapid determination of PCBs in biological samples.
