| Abstract: | A fluorescent compound is produced by the reaction of amino acids with phthalic aldehyde and mercaptoethanol, which provides a feasible way to determine amino acids. The acidity of the reaction is maintained at pH 9.5 with a borate buffer. The effect of salts and interferences of co-existing metal ions were studied. Under the conditions established, amino acids were determined directly and satisfactorily in sea water samples. |
