Abstract:A novel semi interpenetrating polymer network (semi IPN) membrane composed of crosslinked chitosan (cr CS) and polyacrylic acid (PAA) was prepared.The IR spectra confirmed that CS and PAA can form polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) through electrostatic interaction between NH + 3 group from CS and COO - group from PAA.The semi IPN membrane exhibited a typical pH sensitivity,and its degree of swelling in different salt solutions with equal metal ionic valence and ionic strength were on the same level.Under certain ionic strength (I=1.5mol/l),the degree of swelling increased with increasing metal ionic valence.Furthermore,the elongation of the semi IPN membrane could vary reversibly by addition of CaCl 2 solution and KCl solution alternately.
