| Abstract: | Fourteen pentamethine and heptamethine indocarbocyanines have been synthesized by a simple and efficient procedure. Some of them are novel. The structure of the compounds was confirmed by elemental analysis, visible/near - infra - red absorption, 1H NMR and IR spectroscopy. The correlation between the constitutions and properties of these dyes has been studied. |
