Abstract:Sodium borohydride and its modified compounds are important reductants capable of reducing a great number of organic functional groups. Their extraordinary uses have been found in recent years. Much more developments have been reported concerning sodium borohydride and its modified derivatives as a reductant in reducing aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, esters, amides, nitriles, nitro compounds, imines, alkenes, alkynes, indoles and other compounds, which are briefly reviewed in this article.
