Abstract:Study on whole field measuring technique for fluid flow velocity is of high academic value and has many practical applications in fluid mechanics and aerodynamics. An overview on these techniques in the last decade is presented in this article. Several techniques are analyzed and evaluated, such as the technique of laser induced fluorescence for high speed flows, two dimensional particle tracking velocimetry and particle image velocimetry and the recent advances of three dimensional velocimetry.
