Magnetic susceptibility measurements on germanium between room temperature and liquid hydrogen temperatures

Summary Susceptibility measurements have been done on germanium samples with different degrees of impurities. We measured the susceptibilities from room temperature down to liquid hydrogen temperatures. The results have been compared with those of Stevens and Crawford who also measured susceptibilities of germanium samples, but only down to liquid nitrogen temperatures. At liquid hydrogen temperatures we noticed a strong variation of the susceptibility, which is a consequence of the paramagnetic term, as predicted by Busch and Mooser from their measurements on α-tin.
