摘    要:A distributed fiber optic sensor is developed for condition monitoring of civil infrastructure sys-tems. The fiber optic sensor is especially useful in applications involving structures strengthened by fiberreinforced polymer (FRP) composites. Abstract:A distributed fiber optic sensor is developed for condition monitoring of civil infrastructure systems. The fiber optic sensor is especially useful in applications involving structures strengthened by fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites. The sensor principles are simple and therefore, practical for detection of cracks, debonding and deformation measurements. Structural monitoring capability of the sensor was evaluated through experiments with cracked reinforced concrete beams strengthened by way of CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) fabrics. Sensor principle and experimental results are presented and discussed.
