Abstract: | An analytic particular solution is obtained for a plane flow problem. The plane flow is forced in an incompressible perfect fluid by a rigid moving wall surrounding the fluid. The wall has the shape of an elliptic cylinder and rotates about its axis. It is found that, during the rotation of such a cylinder, there appears a “hanging” vortex sheet such that its intensity is directly proportional to the angular velocity of rotation. |
