| Abstract: | An investigation on the I.R. characteristics of benzonitrile N-oxides has been performed and results concerning ring-substituent and solvent effects on the V CN and V NO bands are reported. Spectroscopic and thermodynamic parameters associated to the proton-acceptor capability of the oxygen atom of the -CNO group have been also evaluated. |
