Characteristics of several industrial noise environments

In order to further define in the literature the characteristics for different noise environments existing in industry over 2000 work stations in eleven different industries were investigated. The data measured included dB(A) sound levels and octave band sound pressure levels. These data are analyzed with respect to mean slope, mean slope as related to dB(A) sound level, flatness, bands of concentrated acoustic energy (or pure tones) and the correlation between the measured dB(A) sound level and that predicted by using the measured octave band sound pressure levels.
