| Abstract: | A polariton mode not far from the fundamental TO frequency in GaP is excited using the stimulated Raman effect. The degree of lattice excitation is directly observed as a function of time by a picosecond probe pulse. A relaxation time of 5.5 psec was measured in agreement with infrared data. |
