Realization of a singlet state via adiabatic evolution of dark eigenstates

Abstract:A scheme is proposed for the generation of a singlet state |S3〉 of three ions by appropriate adiabatic evolutions. In the scheme, losses due to the spontaneous transitions of atoms and the excitation of phonons are efficiently suppressed by employing adiabatic passage and appropriately choosing the additional detuning, and the interaction time does not need to be accurately adjusted.
