| Abstract: | The Mott scattering process and its physical principles are reviewed. The definition, calculation and measurement of the Sherman function are introduced, and the design of the Mott polarimeter, an instrument to detect spin polarized electrons, is briefly outlined. Several methods of producing free polarized electrons and their principles are described. |
