| Abstract: | The fossil fuel era is almost over.If we continue to burn fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas for energy,they will last only another few hundred years.Present energy use trends indicate that an energy shortfall could arise midway through the 21st century as fossil fuels are depleted.Taming fusion will provide us with a virtually inexhaustible source of clean,accessible energy.In this article a brief overview of inertial confinement fusion with a sumary of recent research results will be presented. |
