| Abstract: | The history of near-field microscopy, especially the history of scanning tip microwave near-field microscopy is briefly reviewed. The structure, principle of operation, and the relevant theory of a novel scanning tip microwave near-field microscope are described, as well as applications in studies of superconducting materials, ferroelectrics and high density data storage. |
