Abstract:This paper studies excitation and emission spectra, luminescent lifetime and energy trasfer process in Ce~(3+), Gd~(3+) and Dy~(3+) codoped magnesium borate. Under the excitation of 254nm UV light, Dy~(3+) emission can be sensitized by Ce~(3+) or Gd~(3+). The energy of Dy~(3+) emission mainly originates from Ce~(3+) ion which can absorb the excitation energy. Gd~(3+) ion acts as the intermediate role in the energy transfer process. The mechanism of the energy transfer among these rare earth ions is resonant transfer.
