CHOKED JET WITH A FOIL

Shock associated noise of a choked jet is an important component of noise.It is believed that the shockassociated noise is emitted by the interaction of large scale turbulent flow structure in mixing layer of the jetand shock cell system.Theoretical studies and experiments indicate that a foil fitted on a round nozzle canaffect the large scale turbulent flow structure as well as the shock cell system,and thus decrease the shockassociated noise.
