Direct Generation of Tunable UV Picosecond Laser Pulses Using Spectrotemporal Selection
Abstract:Direct generation of tunable picosecond (90 ps) ultraviolet (UV) dye laser pulses within the 320-400 nm range is described using a single nanosecond pumping laser and spectrotemporal selection of a low-Q, short, UV dye laser cavity emission. Typical output picosecond energies of about 10 μJ are obtained with pump energy of only 5-8 mJ at 266 nm or 308 nm. These picosecond pulse energies are amplified up to 193 μJ by two double-pass amplifiers.
