Abstract:In the high efficiency and small signal region, the efficiency enhancement mechanism of far infrared free electron laser (FIR-FEL) with a reverse tapering waveguide has theoretically investigated. The one-dimension (I-D) numerical simulation suggests that this kind of waveguide whose gap is gradually narrowing along the propagation axis substantially heightens the FIR-FEL efficiency.
