| Abstract: | Inelastic neutron scattering experiments have been performed in UBr3 in order to determine the crystal-field levels. Four transitions between the ground state and all excited states have been observed, thus the crystal-field level scheme could be unambigously assigned. The Russell-Saunders coupling scheme has been used to derive the crystal-field parameters which cannot be accounted for by a simple point charge calculation. |
