Simulation of physically unclonable function based on disordered photonic structure

Abstract:Physically unclonable function (PUF) is a novel physical security object consisting of disordered structure that cannot feasibly be cloned. It is a very promising and trustworthy solution for the field of hardware security. Here we present a simulation of disordered photonic PUF by calculating the scattered distribution of the electromagnetic field. The uniqueness and tamper-evident properties of disordered photonic PUF are demonstrated, which are very important for many applications such as secure authentication, identification and cryptographic key generation.
