Abstract:The chemiluminescence properties of 1,3-dichloro-5,5-dimethyl-hydantoin have been studied and a new method for determination of it has been developed from its reaction with luminol-H2O2 in the alkaline medium (pH:12.0—12.5).The linear range of the determination is 8.0×10-8—5.0×10-6mol/L.Relative standard deviation is 4.7% for 5.0×10-7mol/L 1,3-dichloro-5,5-dimethyl-hydantoin and the recovery is in the range of 83%—90%.The detection limit is 5.0×10-8mol/L.This method has been applied to the determination of 1,3-dichloro-5,5-dimethyl-hydantoin in swimming pools with satisfactory results.
