Abstract:The combustion rate of carbon particle in CO2/O2 as well as in air atmospheres aretheoretically studied. The chemical reactions considered include the surface C-O2 and C-CO2reactions and the gas-phase CO-O2 reaction. At the selected chemical kinetic parameters, thepredicted result shows: at ambient gas temperature between 1000 and 1700 K. The overallcombustion rate of carbon particle in CO2/O2 (CO2/O2 mole ratios is 79/21) atmosphereis lower than in air. With reducing of the CO2/O2 mole ratios, the overall combustion rateincrease obviously.
